I hate Broccoli

Did a quick search for this, but didn\'t come up with anything, though I am sure it has been asked before.

How exactly do you guys go about removing those horible Broccoli bases from Reaper minis?

I received a Halfling in the last Mini Exchange and he has this massive Broccoli base I would like removed, but compaired to the size of his little hairy feet, I\'m not even sure where to start.

Here\'s a quick pic of him in which I think you can see the vegetable like base:

EDIT moved image so had to update link

I am not a huge fan of the broccoli either!

Real or lead.

anyhow...I have found a semi-decent way of doing it. Use a wirecutter to carefully clip all around the base, just leaving the bit under the feet. When you attach him to another base, use sand (or whatever basing material you like). The bits on the feet actually raise the mini enough to make them look like they are walking on the surface, as opposed to being mired in it.

If you want it off completely...I\'d say go with the same method, then use a dremel tool to remove the last parts.

You could always use an oxy-acetylene torch...

Although that might also remove his feet, legs and body.

I considered that myself, even went so far as to put my safety glasses on, but then I realized, alas, that I do not have a oxy-a torch.

Thanks for the link to Reapers site Darth. Unfortunately I don\'t have a Jewlers saw either.

I do have a nice cordless dremmel I got when I got married that hasn\'t had much use... that should work.

you can grab a clipper and a file and some patience... vut of the major parts of the base, file down metal under his feat and stick him onto another base :p

I paint my thumb.
Chop him at the ankels and make news feets with GS:D

You could also file out the bumps on the base and then put some credible vegetation on it.

I highly recommend the jeweler\'s saw - I got mine off Ebay for maybe 10 bucks US...it works wonders.

Stick it on some sandpaper and scrub, bottom up. So it only has a very thin broccoli bit left, then just \'clip\'!
