I haven\'t even gotten the keys yet!

I just signed for a new apartment a few days ago and put $1540.00 down on it. I\'m to pick up my keys Tuesday. I\'m very happy! But my luck holds. The Station Fire is extremely close to the complex. They are evacuating the area tonight. The place could burn to the ground before I even get the keys.

In honor of the danger posed to my new apartment and the evacuation of the area (I still don\'t have my keys yet) I give you a new avatar (I really would LOVE you to listen to the song.. Trust me. You\'ll love it)

Aw Liz, if it wasn\'t for bad luck, you\'d have no luck.

Here\'s hoping that nothing happens to you new place.

SOOOOOOOO very happy I\'m not in that hellish August season anymore. \"Smokey\" is not an appropriate weather forecast! Terrible, terrible, terrible.

Stay safe Liz!

The structure is not your problem, but do a good inventory and you\'ll be amazed at the value of your things. Especially if you had to replace them all at once.

Renter\'s insurance is one of the things on my list. I spoke to the manager and I can still pick up my keys tomorrow. Looks like the fire turned back the other way.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I\'ll keep you all informed.

Best of luck Liz!

Hey, what\'s wrong with Cali? Fires, mudslides caused by the fires, earthquakes, and riots shouldn\'t deter someone from living in the middle of a desert and pretending like its Vancouver. :D

Seriously, though, there are times I question the quality of my judgment for living here.

Good luck, Liz.

The fire I\'m dealing with was started when a car fell off the 2 lane mountain road into a ravine WAAAAYYYYY down below. I think a couple of other fires further south were arson.

BTW, I got my keys and moved in my bathroom today! :flip::bouncy: The place is tiny tho\'. I\'ll need a storage locker. Anyone got a spare fridge they don\'t mind shipping my way? No? Oh well. I\'ll have to go buy one then. -sigh-

Hi Liz, if you\'re currently a little cash strapped you shouldn\'t have to buy a fridge, people have to pay to dispose of them here, so it\'s cheaper to pass a second hand one on for free. The Sally Army delivered me a fridge & cooker for a nominal donation when I first moved in on my own so they\'d be worth a bell if they exist locally. There\'s also a local ebay type thing but people trade for goods/services rather than money. A lot of the time if you can collect the item, it\'s free, the person just want\'s it off their property ASAP. Can\'t remember what it\'s called though, unhelpfully, perhaps some one more local can suggest something?

I had to post, I bought a new Washing Machine earlier in the year (my first new white goods purchase ever!) & wandered around the fridge section of the store. Blimey, those things were staggeringly expensive and some big enough to live in too! Glad to here the flat hasn\'t burnt down, :D B.
