Well. It's been almost 8 years since I've painted anything. Oh, I made a lousy attempt at picking it up again a few years ago, going as far as buying a bunch of Vallejo paints all kinds of prep tools, etc etc. (I think the little paint shaker was going a bit overboard) Only to kinda paint one figure and decide that I really, REALLY dislike Vallejo paints despite so many people seeming to rave about them.

What made me get the urge again? I play online video games and maybe 2 months ago I decided to pickup Warhammer: Age of Reckoning. The game is alright but what I didn't expect was a massive wave of miniature painting nostalgia. I used to have a ... large... collection of Games Workshop figures and while the video game has its own issues, one thing they've done quite well is capture the look of the Warhammer IP. Which made me miss not only all those bits of metal I left behind but painting them too.

So I hope it's like riding a bike. I was maybe very very slightly above average before (I was the person whose miniatures got eyed over by the local gamers) and I decided this time I'm going back to what I know. Mostly. I'm getting a wet palette again (mistake #1 from my aborted attempt at painting again was no wet palette). And I'm picking up some artist acrylics so I can actually reliably mix colors!

Wish me luck.
I'm getting the paint as a Christmas gift in a few weeks but I have a few brand new miniatures that I'm slowly prepping. I'll probably start on one or two of the old old Ral Partha cheesecake girls that I actually put in the box when I left my old place since I don't care too much about the end result on those.
