I like my pub because...

...the staff let me get tipsy once a week (sometimes twice) yet refuse to judge me

Why do you like YOUR local pub?

I don\'t! We just have a few really dodgy places where I live, but as it\'s a suburb it\'s not too far to go to get into the city where there\'s plenty of good places.

My \'local\' is a couple of miles away too. The local pub is more a state-of-mind than a building within easy walking distance....

There\'s a few places I regularly visit, although I don\'t have ONE particular place I always go to. The owner of one of these places have great taste in music, so it\'s usually something good that comes out of the speakers, and thus, it\'s a generally nice place to be at. The other pubs I favour mostly for their assortment of beer and ales.

It pays for my minis.

I work a few hours a week at my local and though im not going to get rich quick it keeps me in little bits of metal for the near future!

When I order a shepherd\'s pie there, it\'s actually a shepherd\'s pie, and not some sham filled with ground beef.
Mutton makes all the difference.

Because on a Monday night I\'m the darts GOD, not lost in a year and a half. Oh and me new girlfriend works behind the bar so I get to see my mates and me girlfriend at the same time, result!!!

Just loud noisy bars, filled with cigarette smoke and attitude.

I just tend to stay out of them.

I like mine because they serve a vegetarian Cornish pastie which is a very close ringer for the real thing. And because they have an amazing curry buffet. (And of course, good beers on tap.)

From what I\'ve seen of Hooters girls they really aren\'t much to write home about. One probably can ogle better looking girls on the streets outside most Hooters.

I hear the food is crap too.

Because...it\'s small, run down, and has a great juke box. A total juxtaposition to Newcastle\'s regular nightlife.

Aren\'t juke boxes amazing! They\'re disappearing from pubs exponentially which is a right let down. Piped bloody music from uninformed landlords is NOT the way forward.

I attended 4 drinking establishments yesterday, and sadly one of them was a Wetherspoon place. However, it mattered not. I would have supped ale with the winos in the station such was my mood last night. Huzzah! :beer:

ack rev - didn\'t you learn from your last experience in the station?

@undave, no actually, never heard it said in that way! guess you don\'t think of it like that when you have it every week!

@matty we used to have a place in taunton like that. great jukebox, some cool random cocktails and good beer and free pool! they then upped their prices every 3 months until no one bother to go. they then went bankrupt - serves them right greedy fools

I don\'t have a local of such but 2-3 I go to on different locations. One I actually like is because they got everything a pub has to offer, Darts board, pool table, Juke Box with all my favourite bands. Even better I can play \"Shine on your Crazy Diamond \" for less than 20p.
Other pubs have their quality like what they got on tap, or the price per pint. Where I go depends on what mood I\'m in.
