Sorry folks just had to share. I\'ve been in a major painting block for the past two plus months. Last time I touched a brush was the 10 or 15 minutes I spent on the RR Orcs back in August / September. It was more than a month before that. I just haven\'t been able to paint. Every time I tried, it was just terrible. Couldn\'t paint to save my life.

So I decided to give it a try last night and I\'ve been painting non-stop since 11:00PM. I\'t\'s now 5:00 AM here, and crap I have to be up and out the door in 3 hours.

But I managed to finish 2 pieces and start 2 more. Unfortunately I also managed to break a bit for my pin vise off in a mini trying to drill a hole to pin it to a new base. That sucked.

But it\'s still a happy time!!!! :bouncy::bouncy::bouncy::bouncy:

Better crash and at least get a few hours sleep. G-Night all.

Cheers,
Grumb

@IPM - surely it hasn\'t been that long has it???;)

@Sturm - it frightens me that I actually get that reference... not sure if I should say thanks or be offended. He is damn funny...

@Zora - hang in there, didn\'t think mine was ever going to break...

Cheers All,

I\'ll bet it does have something to do with it...

With a wife, 2 kids, etc., I\'m not finding time...

She left me the two kids, but they\'re happier when I go to my office and paint, I\'m not making then clean their rooms or do something else they don\'t want to do. :)

The wife is the one that always complains about the painting. I\'m beginning to believe the two are directly related. You know, after I travel, she EXPECTS me to spend time with her.... I mean come on, how am i ever going to get some minis finished... lol

Scott

Grumb, you may be on to something. As much as you travel.... I can only image what \"normal home life\" is at your house. I did a year on the road when my girls were very small (2 & 4) and understand your wife\'s wanting to spend some time with you. She has been cooped up with the kids and wants some adult interaction.

Can you pack a airline leagal paint kit? Velajo bottles, brushes, magic wash, a couple of minis? Then you could paint on the road when there nothing better to do in the hotel. But there lighting generally sucks. Pack a 100 watt reveal bulb to.

My best work has come with moving my painting to an old computer desk (small) into the area between the dining room and living room. I can interact with the family, watch/listen to a TV show and get some mini work done all at once.

I had about a year long block in 2003, I think I painted (poorly) 1 mini in about 13 months. And like airhead I came out of it when I moved my painting area to a place that wasn\'t such a dark hole to a place where I could interact with others. It\'s now a place I find myself sitting even when I\'m not painting, which then gets me thinking about painting, which gets me painting more.

I\'ve been in one since I finished Lanarn a few months ago.

I started Jorth Kor\'aleh from War Crow - got about 75% done with him - and went right back into lockdown.

*sigh*

@airhead and Eric; I like the idea of finding a place ot paint that\'s up near the rest of the family. My current desk is in a corner of my home office which is in the basement. Maybe I can find a way to make the painting kit more portable so I can move it upstairs then put it away when I\'m done.

@airhead - yeah, the travel lately certainly hasn\'t helped. I\'ll have to think about the traveling kit idea. I do tend to have a lot of down time in hotels when I travel. The damn airport security has gotten so jacked up about what you can and can\'t carry anymore it might be difficult. Even if I put it in my checked luggage, they open and search those now too. And the way my luck runs a paint pot or two would get broken and I\'d end up with suits covered in no removable acrylic paint. I\'d also have to make sure the mini\'s were fully prepped and primed before I left, that way I wouldn\'t have to carry files / x-actos around. Any artisits out there used to traveling with paint and brushes, any problems with security? I\'ll have to give the travel paint kit some serious thought. may start another thread on the topic and see if anybody has any good ideas... thanks for the suggestion.

@Darth - i feel your pain man, must be something here in Georgia. I\'ve talked to several other local painters recently who are in slums too. Must be something in the water... lol

Cheers,
Grumb

I actually managed to grind out the rest of the \'paint\' areas on Jorth tonight. Now I have to a) decide if I want to try freehand on him, and b) decide what to do with his base.

:)

Hopefully this will break me out of my slump for a bit.
