Yes, when the general election is called it only lasts a few weeks, but we don\'t have a set length of time for the term between elections so there\'s nothing to start aiming for until the government anounces the date.

@Uberdark. You\'re going to hell...again? Weren\'t you already damned for reading that book?

which book? ive read a lot of banned books.

Funny, why would an \"honest guy\" like him lie about being present during Rev. Wright\'s \"the white man & America is evil\" sermons. It also makes him a little stupid to think they wuoldn\'t dig up the truth. He has still never answered adequately about that.

I won\'t defend him for that, but the one point I\'d like to make (without getting overly racist) is that it seems to be a common set of beliefs among black america. No one ever gets called for these statements, and the silence of that community is overwhelming.

I am of the believe that ANY race is capable of being racist, while some believe that minorities are incapable of being so.

I\'m talking about Weatherman/Weathermen dude. American white college kids in the 70\'s blowing up buildings (and themselves) to protest. They also executed the \'81 Brinks robbery. Two of the members threw a fundraising gala for him during his first Senate race. They are vocal supporters of his who he will not disavow.
If they\'re wanted outlaws, maybe someone should arrest them. But if they\'ve done their time, maybe they should be allowed to participate in the political process. Why should Obama \"disavow\" them? It\'s not like HE supports robbing banks and overthrowing society. They probably don\'t support it anymore either.

And anyone who believes the \"antichrist\" is anything more than a bronze age metaphor about the corruption caused by power, well, that is their right I guess. They are free to try and inject their backwards beliefs into the political process but as usual they will have very limited influence in the big picture.

The problem is they (Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, two former weathermen and chums of Obama) have been spouting the same tired revolutionary violence, on tape, as recently as six-months ago. They donated to his campaign, Bill Ayers served on the board of the woods fund with Obama for 3 years. They held a 1995 fundraiser soiree in their (Ayers and Dohrn, who are now married) house for his first Senate run. Ayers, Dohrn and Obama all attended a party for Rashid Khalidi (One of Arafat\'s chums), and Khalidi later threw a little mixer for Obama\'s Senate campaign.

They both speak favorably of their \"war\" against America. As recently as 6 months ago. Some of their clever soundbites can be found here and there are lots of clips of them on YouTube.

Guess what; they\'re both Professors in Illinois. Now I remember why I left that state. Dohrn is right when she says \"hide your children\"

If any other white, homegrown terrorist enjoyed such chumminess with a candidate, that would be the end of the campaign. But Obama\'s been anointed as the messiah by the media. It\'s obivious because they\'ve been treating Hillary like the Republican.

This guy has numerous personal ties to terrorists without the mechanism of govt. to assist him.

As for them not being arrested, they went under aliases from 1970 to 1980. They turned themselves in to authorities quietly (hardcore revolutionaries) in 1980. Due to govt. mishandling of evidence Dohrn only served a year, I think Ayers got off completely and now they\'re folk heroes of the Chicago leftist elite. Must have A-listers for upscale cocktail parties now (Down with the establishment man). They should love the US for being the only place where WASP, LSD casualties can blow-up Federal buildings, hide for a decade, avoid doing time and be celebrated as great intellectuals.

Obama is a great presidential candidate if you can get past all the stuff he stands for. (or for that matter, if you can even figure out what he stands for...other than change and hope and hope for change and change for hope).

What I mean to say is: he\'s a great speaker and a superb politician. Exactly what we need

I live in Sweden and I\'m sick of it lol Can\'t imagine how it would be to live in the U.S. Seriously, are you aware how much of it all we get? It\'s nuts.. but it\'s almost a headline/day.

I\'m not sure about Obama for the reason that he doens\'t have the revolutionary politics needed for his big words. You guys might be disappointed again so to speak. But on the other hand the majority in U.S. wouldn\'t vote for a revolutionary leftish politics is my guess as it is so easy to mislabel it communism (gasp!)

He\'s my favourite of those that are left.

Which one, uber? The teachers\' strike or the oil refinery workers\' strike?

I\'m not sure why you\'re telling Avelorn there about Posh, as she\'s from the UK. Oh, and you\'re welcome to her, and Katie&Peter (if they\'re still over there).

It does get kind of irritating when \"America\" seems to think that the world has nothing better to do than obsess over who their President is. He\'s THE President, like other places don\'t have them:rolleyes: . I seem to remember there was a film called the Contender or something that bombed a bit over here because no one was really interested.

I wonder how many Americans could name the British Prime Minister and point him out in a crowd? Hell, I\'d probably have trouble lol

I keep thinking Tony Bair but it\'s a younger guy right? Just saw him on BBC America the other night.....
Of course the world is intrested in whos the next US prez. We\'ve got the most bombs:D right?
And as for Obama being the anti-christ, the scare thing that I had that same idea a month of so back after I hear that there was a website claiming that he was the second coming. Pretty sad that that is the first place that my mind would go to. Then again, 4 years or so ago I did have him peged for a run on the White House.

One question is this going to be on tv or anything. Because I wonder if you could slip in a
CHUTHLU for President 2008
\"Why vote for the lesser of two evils\"
sign/plactered

UK Prime Minister = Gordon Brown, square head big ears salt and pepper hair sort of jowl-y. :)

As for Obama/Clinton. I\'m trying to tell myself I\'d be ok with either in office (but I\'d prefer Obama). It gets easier when the other alternative is McCain.

The one thing that tends to shock my older friends, I don\'t remember a time in my life where there wasn\'t a Clinton or a Bush in office...ever. I was born during the last few years of the Regan Presidency and was too young to remember.

As for voting libertarian, I\'ve never really understood that. I understand that you don\'t like any of the candidates, but considering the Gore/Bush/Nader debacle of 2000 wouldn\'t you rather vote for the one you don\'t like the least? those votes for nader, if they had been given to Gore would have changed the last 8 years

but then again, the whole hanging CHAD\'s thing was florida\'s fault too....whoops lol

Americans don\'t think that everyone should know or care about it...However your local media may think that, but you can hardly blame us for that!!

Avelorn

@Supervike:

Definately! Not U.S. to blame. But it is a bit how the media and newsagencies are structured as well. Local media is the last stop in the newsflow. And yeah we want to know as well.. :) but I think many (you as well) get fed up with the way the campaign goes. Who cares whether Hillarys distant cousins nanny is married to Jack the Ripper... It\'s just insane the proportion stuff gets. My guess is some of the greatest politicians throughout history would not have come to power now because they have had a shoddy past etc.
