I\'m new, rate my gallery please

Hi. I\'ve known about CMON for years now, but I only noticed it had forums yesterday. I spend a lot of my forum time on sites that discuss the relative merit of lasguns vs. bolters, and how GW is screwing wood elves etc. I\'m generally only interested in painting and modeling though, so I guess I\'ll be here a lot in future.

Anyway, now that I\'ve discovered these forums, I\'d be grateful for some more detailed input on my gallery please. It\'s only a small fraction of my stuff (the descriptions explain why those particular pics are uploaded). Thanks guys.

About your miniatures:

Sgt Stone - really clean miniature with a good camo pattern well complemented by the blood on the sword.
The metallics looks a bit too clean, maybe a mix of black and brown inks will help to shade them a bit.
The skin color and the face expression are really good.

Commodus - Unusual color scheme for a beastman but works well. The blood on the axe is really well done and I cant see defects ... maybe the skin color is too similar to the stone.

Pertinax - The best miniature of your gallery, the shield is a wonderful addon and the color scheme really well done. Probably a better picture will raise the overall score by one or two points.

Yes, welcome to the forums!

I like your stuff quite a bit. Let me first though, say that it would help your score if you had a lighter more neutral background. Something like a plain white poster board or the blue fade to white that alot of people use. It would help quite a bit, especially with the one taken in front of the leaves.

I liked all three, but cannot decide if I like the Sgt Stone or Commodus the best. Cool color schemes and nice brush control. Can\'t wait to see more.

As for your minis put them on a better backdrop and your score should improve.
I think they are scored nicely as is.I gave 8 for the crusader and 7 for the others.
Keep it up.

My God, there are actually other people in the North who like minis and mini forums! I thought I was the only one!

Anyway, thanks for the constructive crits guys. I know the photos are very ametuerish, I\'ll try to sort that.

D-Yeah, the Beastman has a bit of a story. I was reading about the Roman emp. Commodus, and decided he had the perfect persona for my beastman (hence the purple and gold). Thought I was being clever too, until I watched \'\'Gladiator\'\'.

hmmm... it seems the Northeast isn\'t as barren as you thought when it comes to mini-painters
As for your minis... I like the clean style, has a sort of graphic design appeal, which works especially well on the Pertinax figure considering the more neutral, artistic nature of the pose.
As has been said, better critiques would come of better photos, but keep up the good work

Like yourself I hung around other gaming forums (mainly GW oriented forums) and have a few pics up, I too prefer painting to gaming and can be seen from my post count have only started posting here even though I have a few minis on the site here.
