I\'m selling my big Nikon lens...

I thought I\'d put it here as it\'s not really a mini sale and it\'s also on ebay as opposed to just being for sale.

I\'m upgrading! yay me!

Anyway, I\'m selling my Nikon 80-400mm f4.5-5.6 D AF VR Lens... It was used a lot in NZ for 2 weeks and has been out like twice since and that\'s it... it\'s on ebay at the moment so if you know anyone who might be interested, please pass this link on: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=140222261457

Cheers,

Joe

Tax man has just very kindly given me almost 1500 quid back to blow on camera gear.

Shame it\'s going to be Canon stuff!

;)

Someone\'ll snap that up on Ebay with no worries!

Edit: Expensive starting bid. Sometimes helps you to start lower. Entices more bidders and gets them squabbling...

Cheers spacemunkie - I hate bidding on things with reserves because why should I commit to bid if I\'m not sure I\'ll even win it... and I would rather just keep the lens than risk selling it at a price i\'m not happy with. I think it\'s a fair price and I hope someone bags it but I won\'t cry if it doesn\'t sell - i\'m fond of the lens really.

Anyway, what Canon stuff are you getting? I like Canon stuff actually, i\'m one of the rare people who likes both ;)

My new lens is going to be the Nikon 70-200 f2.8 VR one. I think Canon do an IS version of the same... highly recommended!

FWIW I think you did the right thing, given the history and the full price for it.

Holy stinking crackers Batman. $1300ish for a used camera lens. I\'m sure glad I\'m not into photography or I\'d be broke for sure.

BTW, I\'m with you on the theory of putting a bid you can live with. Not always the best for grabbing bidders but better than reserves. I sold a Birks watch on eBay (about $1000) a couple years back and put it up 4 times before it sold for the minimum bid but I woulda kicked myself if I had gotten rid of it for $200 or something.

I like both as well! I\'d have a D300 tomorrow if I could afford it...

I\'m gonna go with a 40D body, a 70-200 f4L and maybe a 24-105 f4L IS when HMRC cough up the rest of the wonga they owe me. That\'ll be me done for a while I think. Until that 17-40 L starts calling.... :D

Yeah, that f2.8 IS lens Canon make is awesome. Had a go with one the other week at a rodeo I went to. Fabulous bit of gear, but can\'t really warrant that sort of cash on one bit of glass at the moment!!

80-400 lens is no longer available... I do have a rather nice 70-200 f/2.8 VR lens and a 1.7x teleconverter... oh... and £1000 less pounds... damnit! How did I let that happen ???

It is nice though - honest!
