Is there anything these whores won\'t do to turn a fast buck?

And by these whores I mean Marvel and U2.

lol U2 are so up themselves... it\'ll be awful. there is a great sketch on Ruddy Hell! It\'s Harry And Paul which takes the piss out of Bono and The Edge very well. It said that they were doing the first carbon neutral festival in the world, with Madonna - using biofuelled cars, recycled plastic cups and illuminated by the light which shines from Bono\'s arse :D

You know Bono and U2 was once a very political band that seemed to want to do good in the world where they could. Then they realized they must be gods and would do anything for more money. Marvel has just always thought they were gods of entertainment. So really, how could this go bad. Other then the fact i\'m now imagining the old internet flash \"Spiderman is gay\" as the hit breakthrough song of the musical broadway performance.

Ok look, I thought the commercial I saw for the singing dancing Itsy Bitsy Spider-Man was bad enough. Then I found this - and have decided that the apocolypse has already happened.

Me too... they used to be good...

As for the film I won\'t be watching that either. What happened to film companies coming up with original ideas instead of films based on books, previous films, comic books, remakes etc....

do you ever give a guy a break?

Lloyd, haven\'t you complained about Bono sticking his nose into international politics?
Now he tries to create musical entertainment, which is what people keep saying he should stick to, and you lambast him anyway.

It\'s not that bad. Not like they are robbing the gullible. The buyers are buying entertainment and they know it.

I would like to note that this is just too easy a mark and I will abstain from any further comment on such a ridiculous, absurd, attempt at milking a popular franchise via has-been bands and any marginal resemblance of the miniature gaming companies, although the cover design for the \"Battle of Live8\" box might be a fun thing to doodle and post. :innocent:

U who?

It seems pretty logical to me that these guys (U2) would take whatever gigs were thrown their way. They are working musician/songwriters after all. They are a big player in the entertainment industry. It is their job. Spiderman as a musical seems like a fun idea. It\'s also the first time that Marvel (according to the news report) has ever put a stage musical together based on one of their comic books. Sounds interesting, and I\'m sure that it\'ll be fun for the d00ds who go to see it.

While I\'m no U2 fan (I don\'t have any of their albums) because I have a memory of being bored senseless when I heard \'Rattle & Hum\' the LP as a kid. Having said that, I think it\'s pretty negative and unfair to make nasty remarks declaring that U2 and Marvel are a bunch of whores. Sure this might be your opinion - but why declare this to every Tom Dick and Harry on a public internet forum? I\'ll never understand why people start threads on public internet forums just to slander others? Anyway that\'s just me.

From what I can gather U2 and the crew are doing lots of good things. For example: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6580901.stm

Pick up the Joshua Tree (or the Best of 1980-1990 CD which has a lot of that album on it) and I bet you\'ll change your mind about U2. That album is simply amazing, I love 80\'s U2 so much!

Anyway, this sounds like a terrible idea, but as long as they keep Chad Kreuger away from it you can always say \"It could be worse\" lol

@vince - Probably did so - and as an aside - have you been reading the JRF site again?

@jericho - actually prefer pre Joshua Tree U2 - when they were making a statement besides \"Give us your money\"

@laurence - gots to call em like I see them and since this whole concept seems to be a cynical attempt by Marvel to milk more money from the franchise, and by pairing with U2 give it some sort of \"legitimacy\" because U2 \"do good work\", hell yes, I can see it as pandering to the masses for money. But hey, I also object to \"The Producers\" being made into Broadway Theater, as well as Mel\'s current project, \"Blazing Saddles the Musical\" - Recycling pop culture may be a big part of theater and life, but it doesn\'t mean 1. I have to agree with it, and 2. I cant comment on it in the terms I feel fit it best.
