you might have to change the battery.

There are some programs that are designed to \"clean\" the battery so to speak. But if the computer is turning off as soon as you unplug the battery I don\'t think that\'ll work.

The other possibility is that the conection from the batterie to the computer aren\'t working (dirty, something in between, etc.), might want to check that.

The same thing happens to mine last week. Turns out to be a dead battary.

I always kept the battry plug in, though I was using the mains, apparetnly this will kill the battary really fast. The correct way, if you are using primarily the mains, is to unplug the battary first.

What he said.

It could be the battery (pretty likely - some people get lucky, but they don\'t generally have a long service life in top condition). I should mention it could also be the motherboard or something weird.

That\'s pretty common.

if its a dell laptop its fairly common, you need to get a new battery or just run it from the mains

Hot notebooks, quick user check...
If you use it off the desk & perhaps rest it on a cushion on your lap, or on top of the duvet whilst in bed or laid on the living room carpet, make sure that the air vents are not being blocked. It\'s a fairly common user error that can lead to overheating issues (of course doesn\'t count if the damnable battery turns out to be faulty!).
Hope the replacement resolves the issue.

also true about the battery and mains conflicting the battery thinks its time to charge when the mains are plugged in and develops a \"memory \"the next time you charge it it only charges as far as the last time you connected the mains then so on and so on until the battery no longer charges as it remembers the charge time to be a couple of seconds thus giving you the trouble you seem to be experiencing now. battery memory its a killer:cry:
