I, Robot themed necron army

Ok, well heres the idea, i\'m starting to play 40k and since i dont have much free time at the moment i\'ve decided to make a necron army, because as most of you know you can get away with very simple paintjobs for them (well at least for gaming standard models anyway).

I initially intended to paint them the standard metal colours with some detailing but i\'ve come across the idea of doing an I, robot themed force instead. It would only be the necron warriors that i would convert and paint to look like the NS-5s from i robot, the others would just be painted in the similar colours. The conversion work on the warriors would be to fill in the \"ribs\" of the warriors with greenstuff, and remove the spine of the warrior to make the chest and back look like the carapace of the NS-5, and paint it white with the glowing red light, the only problem ive come across is the heads, in the movie the robots have very human-like heads, nothing like the necron warrior heads, so it\'s a case of finding a suitable head for the warriors, or resculpting them ???

so do you think this is a good idea, or would it look stupid, (ive never seen an NS-5 walking around witha gauss cannon lol) so maybe the idea wouldnt work. Any thoughts/ comments?

The only help i could give you is with reguards to heads... scrounge around in your local comic book shop\'s bits box, it\'ll soon be your new best friend ;). i\'m fairly sure you\'ll find space marine heads and MANY other heads from various other games... one of which will suit the need. Then with a little easy conversion work put one together and paint it up. Post it and go to the forum about posted minis asking for comments. Hope this helps you out, and good luck! Can\'t wait to see how one turns out.

The pariah heads are a lot more human like, they\'re not exactly like an NS-5, but they\'re closer than a basic warrior, unfortunately I think they\'re attached to the bodies, so getting hold of enough of those heads for an army would cost a fortune

Yeah they are attached.

Having not seen the film I cannot help in any way...

If you need any help with army lists, though, my site can aid you there.

i love that idea. it will take ages though, to paint and convert them all. fair play if you can finish it. try a few prototypes and see which one you like most (and show us while you\'re at it!)

Try looking at Historical Wargames sites some manufacturers produce head variants for thier models so you may have some luck there.
