Not bad at all!

I think you\'ve got the basic gist of it.

The eyes just aren\'t as \'glowy\' as his seem to be....but thats a hard act to follow.

Great idea though, of following the tute to the letter (with same paints and all)....

I\'d suggest trying it a few more times, and see if it gets better each time.

I think the ridge above his eye should not be lit that way - it\'s \"around the corner\" from the light source. Only the very edge of the brow should be green. Otherwise an excellent first effort!

You could extend the white \'hot spot\' in the eye to reinforce the glowing effect. Its a damn fine attempt though, and your setting high standards copying that fellas work!

I\'ve been swapping between windows comparing yours to his.

Overall I think you\'re doing great!

Your \'glow\' isn\'t blended all that well so it doesn\'t fade out as you get away from the eye.

And I agree with matty that your hot spot isn\'t quite there yet.

But overall a smashing attempt! Good job!

Not bad - as said - blending needs to be worked on, but I could tell exactly what piece you were talking about when I saw your attempt - so it is at least recognisable :)

Keep tryin\'

not bad at all for a first atempt! but remember that the light effects are not aloud to be as or more bright than the source.
but othre than that, good work :)

getting there.
I think you need to make the eye itself more yellow to white and you need to fade the green out so it doesn\'t just stop but blends into the gray more (glazing over the edges with thinned gray might work).

As already mentioned, the lighting on the brow is messed up, and I would pull the lighting out towards the bridge of the nose a bit.

Also, it seems like the scratches need a highlight at the bottom edges, and the marks in the middle of the scratches look odd.

But its a good start for sure. I\'m sure the 2nd one would be better, and third even more.

Not necessarily true. If the object reflecting the light is highly polished you\'ll get bright reflections. And there\'s no such thing as \'not allowed\' when painting - especially fantasy/sci-fi miniatures!

Paint and blend a fairly large portion of the eye pure white. Outline the eye with a very light and very vibrant lime green, and also blend. The part above the eye, up where the eyebrow is I would paint the color of the helmet. With the eye recessed it wouldnt get light up there.

It\'s a pretty clever technique and looks good, but to be honest, to me it makes no sense.
The effect is intended to make it seem as if light is streaming out of the helmet eye sockets, but I have to ask why would light be shining out?
Looking at it logically surely the eyepieces would be absorbing light, not doing a Stargate Bad Guy impersonation. And wouldn\'t light shining out reduce visibility?
As I said makes no sense to me, but hey that\'s 40K isn\'t it?

While I like glowing eyes I have often wondered the same thing. You even see it in movies.

It could be some sort of scanning device in the helmet. A device that emits light and then scan the light that is reflected back, thus gathering information about the surroundings. :)

But the only explanation needed, really, is: IT LOOKS COOL!! lol

Yeah, IF I EVER, paint OSL eyes, its either gunna be on some fleshy evil possessed demon\\machine, OR a space marine type guy who is reading a display or something \"tactical\", like a HUD is popping up in his helmet, and he\'s focusing on that, not the outside.
