Are the people who gave \"Left talon of Roc\" 10\'s also considered snipers? I propose we call people who give exaggerated high scores \"Srepins\". Hmmm, almost sounds like a real word.

And sometimes you just don\'t like it.
I\'ve looked at mini\'s that technically were OK, but I still gave them a 5 or 6. Why? Because I don\'t like them.
I mean, the paint isn\'t too thick, they have nice bases and highlights and blah, blah, blah, but I just don\'t LIKE them. Asthetically, they don\'t appeal to me.
And sometimes I\'ll see something that is less perfect technically, but the colors go together nicely, there is something creative about the technique or execution. The mini is a joy to look at. So maybe I\'ll give it an 8 where everyone else scores it a 6 or 7.
Then there are the ones that I\'m like, \"who would give that such a low score?\" and I\'ll vote two points or so higher than the given average.
Face it, people vote based on their opinons. And there is plenty of room for people to vote because of how a mini makes them feel, without regard to technical aspects.

I definately agree. Voting on aesthetics is more than voting on technique. As I stated somewhere else sometime, perhaps earlier in this thread???, I figure the best you\'re going to get from me on pure technique is an 8-8.5. The rest is an emotional, irrational \"wow\" factor. And I tend to take that into account for not only the \"god-like\" minis, but for all of them.

my method
I vote higher now. One thing that I do is hide the score, as much as we all want to think we make our own decisions on everything sometimes when we see the trend we gravitate that way. Turning off the scores makes your voting more unbiased.
I also look at minis a bit longer now and anaylze what the painter accomplished. I think an 8 is a great job like the rating system says it should be. I think too many people think an 8 is near perfection, its not, a 9 or 10 is near perfect, an 8 to me is \"dang everything looks sweet\" where a 9 or 10 is \"crud! look at that, what in the world?how can you do that?\"
Anyway, I\'m happier voting higher. Like alot of us, I know what its like to look at some of my minis and feel that their 8\'s but everyone else seems to think their 6.9\'s. So I try to look at others minis as though I painted them and not just click on through. I hope I made some sense to someone.
