Not often does the passing of a 'celebrity' actually affect me, but I am gutted that he won't be writing any more..

Yeah I heard about this yesterday from my GF, gutted too! I'm a huge fan of his science fiction so just like when Robert B. Parker passed away and I realised I'd never get to read another of his Spenser novel I'm really sad there'll never be any more of his Culture books.

The universe has a massive sense of irony, apparently he was well into writing his last book - on the toll cancer takes - when he was diagnosed.
