Ideas for Huan the Great Wolfhound

I recently bought the Silmarillion and am over halfway through. As soon as I read about Huan and Beren I thought that would be an awesome pair to paint (and maybe try my hand at a bit of conversion).

The problems lies in that I cannot find any good base Wolf or Hound models. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good wolf/dog model which is fairly large and relatively non-evil looking. I imagine Huan as looking similar to an Irish Wolfhound.
