I know it can be frustrating, but the majority of comments tend to be left by people who really like the piece of work. If someone doesn\'t like it, or appreciates the technical skill, but its not their cup of tea, they are more likely to just vote and leave comments on something else that they feel drawn to. Hence, I tend to find that on my minis at least, the scores in the comments section are nearly always a point or two above the average score.

Duuuuude, don\'t take it personally (i.e. don\'t feed the trolls). Don\'t you think others of us have stuff that has been sniped to death?

Since you pretty much asked I wouldn\'t rate yours more than an 8 myself though (without half scoring). It\'s clearly a potential 9 but I deduct for flaws when giving a rating. Some of it is very nice but some looks a bit flat, which is all the more obvious because of how good other parts are. Also NMM is incompatible with a gloss finish on any part of the same mini - it\'s either painted illusions of reflections or real reflections, not both for me.

No, the former is rated too high IMO.

i have to say regarding the two minis you are comparing:
yours in beautifully smooth, the nmm looks great. although as spacemunkie says, some of the nmm highlighting isn\'t correct according to the osl (ie on his left wrist guard). and the crest does look unfinished.
the ork is a conversion and although painted in a different style, looks nice. the finish is smooth (not as smooth as yours but that wouldn\'t look right) and there is some great weathering on it

Ok, I\'ll start by saying that I think Tony has gotten a lot nicer recently. He seems to be genuinely trying not to piss people off, both on the forums and in posting comments on peoples’ minis. I will say that I think everyone deserves a 2nd chance, Tony included. I also think that he probably is being sniped more than usual, although any score over 8 is a really good score.
That being said, he pissed a lot of people off with his comments in the past, although he’s never commented on mine. I know some of you vote a lot and some of you barely at all. I vote a lot (about 22,000 minis right now, most in the past 6 months). I have seen many of the comments Tony has made in the past. Just reading some of his comment for other people pissed me off, I can only imagine the person who actually received it by email. Many of them were just rude. Not only that, but he would often vote about 4-5 points lower than a mini deserved. I have often seen Tony vote and comment a 1 or 2 on a mini that obviously deserves a 5 or 6, or at least a 4. By the way, to me giving a lowball score and rude comment is really not much better than sniping, especially when you have no minis posted yourself. It takes guts to do that if you have minis up yourself, but is cowardice if you don\'t. (at least one other regular forum goer does this all the time as well, you know who you are). For those of you who are going to say that constructive criticism, is helpful even if rude; I’d like to see how you’d feel if one of your 8-9 rated minis was given a score of 4 or 5 with a quip, under the guise of criticism; I think you’d sing a different tune.
I don’t really think there is anything Tony can do about this, except for live with it, and continue to do the right thing (not being purposefully mean). I think that he should continue to post his minis; they are very good after all. If he continues to act right, eventually all the people who he pissed off will be gone, or they will forget about it after sniping a few of his minis. He made his bed, and now has to lie in it, although it will probably get better later. It’s a shame if no one gets to see those minis, plus it’s a real punk move to dish it out if you can’t take it. I can at least respect him if he puts his minis back up, takes the scores he gets and learns from this, if he doesn’t, then he doesn’t deserve anyones’ respect anyway

Its a shame that you pulled your stuff of Toni but you get that.
Dont get hung on the score tho the comments are the only important thing really. I know some people hang on it and I am one of them (I mean how else do you know if your improving)
I would like to see you with 5 minis in your gallery (I know you have at least that many cause of the Marine army your painting) Cause I think you would be up close to the top 100.
Also you have to be a bit kinder when commenting on other peoples minis. SOme people look up to people like you and take it very hard when you talk down to them. I like your style Toni and I know what having a temper can be like but sometimes you have to take a breath before acting.
Hope you repost ALL of your minis.

ahhh, to the matter at hand. i have been sniped a time or two myself tony, and i have freaked out too ( some of these posters can bare witness). NoSuchAgency had some great advice for me - paint a mini! its very....\"cathartic\" as he said. it works, really.
2nd - your minis are rated fairly high as it is! dont complain about a good thing. i only have a single mini thats hit the 7 mark (another is soooooooo close though

they will never stop guest from voting either, why? because that who bids on the auctions for the most part (im guessing), and it continues to promote the site without forcing browsers to \"jump in.\" thats how it was for me leastwise.
4th. i seem to remember getting angry with you for leaving a \"snipe\" comment on someone elses mini.
5th. dont drop the gallery. i leave minis up that have crappy scores because i love them, and i want to share. someone might see my goofy mini and be inspired - whereas 99% of everyone else who sees it will think \"dated - 5.\"
6th. bottom line _________ CMON is for YOU to express yourself.
