I actually prefer the look of the shadowsword, but as it's technically not my tank thought I'd best do it as what my mate wanted
I do find that at a distance this variant just looks like a big tank, rather than big tank with gun.Lol, nah the bloodthirster's been with me for far too long
Will be selling more stuff on eBay this weekend though.Cheers. The whole thing is looking a lot better from a distance now, with luck I'll get the mud effect on by the weekend which will add a bit more contrast to the bottom element

Not got anywhere near enough done due to having a hacking cough for the past week. However yesterday afternoon I felt well enough to grind some chalk down and apply this (though airbrushing Iso. Alcohol almost killed me - I need a mask when I do that in the future). It's given a really nice dusty effect but I'm going to make up some proper mud mixture and apply this to the tracks and underside of the side panels.
There is actually quite a lot that could still be done, some of the armour would benefit from more weathering and the rust effect should have been applied more ruthlessly as it looks really effective. However, I'm going to do the muddy tracks and then paint the shrine at the back and call it done as I feel that I could quite easily continue tweaking for the next six months and still not be happy with it and I want to get a GD entry or two ready.

Well I'm very nearly done on this after spending yesterday evening doing a couple of bits, so snapped off a couple of pics on my phone. There are a couple of bits I want to do, more oily effect around the rotating fun barrels and to fix the aerial that I managed to snap over the weekend (couldn't believe when I did that). Overall I'm fairly happy with the result.

By barrels do you mean the external fuel drums, or the barrels of the weapons? :sinister:
Cassar is right. The former could use dirt/mud on the lower halves given their proximity to the treads.

Fair point, the (fuel ; ) barrels do have some dirt effect on them (not really visible though), but would benefit from some more. As I've got a little bit left to do, I'll add a bit more onto that. After selling two boxes of vallejo paints on eBay this last weekend, I've treated myself to a couple of mud coloured weathering powders from FW as the chalks I've got don't go that dark.

Additional mud has been applied to the rear fuel barrels (and near by) and I've applied some Klear and brown ink around the cogged elements of the main gun.
With the exception of fixing the broken areal and sealing in the extra mud effect with varnish, I'm happy to say that this is pretty much complete. I'm aiming to do the last bits this weekend and take some proper pictures before posting into the completed forum Onto the next project!

Yup, basically just a plastic rod with an end on! With hindsight I should have left it off until the end
I'm going to root round in the bits box this weekend to find either some guitar wire or similar - I actually quite like the stumpy effect so might keep it shorter too.Lol, or "robust enough to withstand usage"
