In the last ... well, pretty much since I joined the crowd, here, some months back, I\'ve seen frequent mentioning, by a large number of people, that they can\'t send IM\'s, can\'t seem to read IM\'s, and the like.
Soooo... since my job is that of Customer Service Rep in a computer-related industry, I\'m posting helpful suggestions to modify your computer settings so that these pesky Instant Message problems will, hopefully, vanish.
What\'s more, I\'m writing them out in plain english (people who speak other languages, feel free to translate for our non-english crowd).
Now, to start with, these instructions assume that you\'re using Windows XP (home or professional), and Internet Explorer as your browser. Much of it will translate to Mozilla, but may require a few small changes, of which I am not personally aware.
To begin:
The Instant Messages used here count to most software as \'Pop-ups\'. Pop-ups are horrible things, usually advertisements, that most people wish to avoid. The easiest way to deal with IM\'s here, with the least popping up, is not.. repeat.. NOT.. to allow www.coolminiornot.com to your pop-up blocker list, but instead, you should see a small banner appear at the top of your window, which says \'Click here to reveal pop-ups\'. Then choose the option: Temporarily Allow Pop-Ups.
This will open your IM message window, allowing you to send messages (or read messages sent to you).
Those wishing to allow the pop-ups and save this extra clicking need only click on TOOLS in your Internet Explorer, point at Pop-Up Blocker, shift over to \'Pop-Up Blocker Settings\', click there, then type in the address bar, \'www.coolminiornot.com\', and then click on the \'add\' button at the right.
