I'm at a loss

Help! I'm asking for some ideas on what I should do to the platform that this fig is standing on. View attachment 3757

I still have to add the nurglings and finish the pipes, but I'm not happy with the platform. Does anyone have any cool ideas that I could incorporate? I need to get it right before I add the water effects otherwise I'm screwed.

for lager pictures they can be viewed on by blog.

Lessee...

Maybe a ladder going down into the tank.

Some pipe posts with chain between them for a guard rail, possibly breaking one or two or maybe bending.

A "Danger" sign hanging from the same chains.

Some tools perhaps slightly scattered on the deck.

Dent the deck a bit somewhere in the middle and put some water effects there too, where the rain would puddle.

Some faded yellow "danger" paint along the edges.

A hand and arm hanging from the platform, that's fleshy at the top but just bone at the bottom, almost as if it's been eating away by whatever corrosive material is in the tank.

Oh! Some corrosive danger signs, meaning those diamond shaped placards that you'd see on the side of a chemical tank or truck.

A three-eyed fish swimming in the tank.

There's always the fall-back cliche: tentacles.

Maybe some hoses wrapping around the legs of the platform, then coming up onto the deck and out towards the back (where they disappear at the end of the diorama).

That's all I could think of on short notice.

Misterjustin: I'm planning on having the water a greenish color with a fade into a dark green at the lower depths. I was also considering having a different color leekimg out of the oil drum.

PegaZus: Dam! Not enough time? I like alot of your ideas. I forsure use the "danger paint" around the edge and add some signs.

I left off the fact that there will also be a rusted, mesh screening going down on the open side of the deck into the water.

Ok here is where I'm at right now. I changed the black base as it looked too washed out with the dark background. I went with a cement look, but I don't think I've pulled it off. I also need to finish up the caution tape and pipes then I'll add the water.View attachment 4088
Anyways tell me what you think. Still struggling with this new camera. I think I may need some classes on it.

Not sure if it's too late, but you might try putting some "chips" to the edge of the tank. Not like painted on, but like a chunk of the concrete has broken away and fallen off. Might help to illustrate it better.

The other suggestion would be to "pebble" the top, sort of weathering it a bit down to the stones in the concrete. Really, really unsure how to actually do that and make it look realistic, however. Might be better to not try that, but tossing it out there.

All in all, I think the cement looks good as-is. Personally, I'd not try to improve it. This after suggesting two ideas. Sheesh.

Yeah, I thought about doing that, but I didn't want to "F" the whole thing up. Ya know? There's no undo command in painting. I'll mull it over a little more and may do it anyways.

Sometimes when I'm tired, I try to hit Ctrl-Z. But agree on not screwing it up. I think it's working and I'd leave it be as well. Maybe experiment in you ever do a companion piece to it.
