Im bored Works in Progress

Well Im a bit bored so Ive knocked up a piccy of two of the minis Im doing at the moment.On the left is Maris from Spyglass and on the right is Mordred from I Kore/Urban Mammoth.Maris is nearly done and Im very pleased so far.I will be going to town on Mordred with the old nmm but considering changing the horns to small wings pointing backward??

Nice so far...

But, Mordred looks too stoopid to have wings....Wings suggest speed of thought as well as body.

Perhaps they could face backwards...or would that be too subtle?:flip:

I like the skintones on the zombie guy so far. I think I like the antlers, but if you do the wings maybe you could make them look like they are in tatters, like they are old and worn ?

Klute, cannot wait to see the finished stuff. How do you get the mottled red that looks like velvet?

The red skirt was done by,
skull white undercoat
then a fishscale pattern was painted on with very thin scorched brown
then it was overpainted with thin but solid red gore
then feathered up to blood red
blood red and sunburst yellow highlights
I then reworked the shading with very,very thinned chaos black.
Still needs matting though,Im putting w+n flow improver in the water these days and I think its glossing the washes.
I hope to have Maris done and posted in a couple of days.

So if your bored why aren\'t yo painting them? I like the wing idea. I think it will work in a comical sort of way.

I get painting boredom after a while and need inspiration.I got some Hasslefree stuff in the post which has to be done (my first source lighting effect I reckon ) so Ive got to finish off Maris.
So here she is finished apart fron varnish and better pics.

on Mordred...

I like the idea of removing those antlers....they are just too big and and become the focal point for the entire mini.

Is Mordred an \'undead\' guy?

I am assuming as much (because of the skin tone)....

If so, I\'d suggest doing something different with the eyes....Maybe a transparent glaze of white? I dunno something to make him look a little less \'intelligent\'...

Maris is a top job Klute. Like the patterning on the dress especially.

I like the red reflections from the dress on the sword Maris is holding. And, of course, the dress is also very nice.

@supervike.....im thinking of shortenning the antlers half way so they are more like horns.Youre quite right about the focus of the mini.From what I gather these guys are bodies that are possesed by undead \"spirits\" so I wanted him kinda zombiefied,hence the green.Im going to give the skin a wash of maybe tanned flesh to make it pinker but leave the green.I know what I mean.The eyes are already yellow its a bright pic,the slant on the top lids give a good dumb look to him I think.
@Spacemunkie...thanks,I reckon the dress pattern is the first freehand Ive done!Its basicaly underpainting the pattern in a dark colour then glazing the reds over top.I did this to keep it soft and subtle instead of the other way around which would have made a sharp pattern.
@Ritual ...I seem to be putting true reflections on all my chrome stuff.Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt!
I really love the more cartoony sky earth some do but Im trying to maintain a more subtle chrome effect.I think Im getting there.
