Imperial City Building

Hi there,

After making my card barracks, I thought I\'d go bigger and better by making this.
Quite a good time to make cheap housing considering we\'ve hit the recession.

I made these by making the structure from thick 3mm mounting card and produced the textures using Adobe illustrator and Photoshop. These I printed out on thin card and stuck them on the stucture.

I\'ve included the link to the textures below so you can have a go.

Here are those links. I\'ve designed them so they print out on A4. They are already set to match the scale of Gamesworkshop minitures.

Front and left side texture
Rear and right side texture
Roof

please feel free to leave feedback or ideas for more advanced designs. These I will post on the forum for all to print.

It looks very nice. There is something I would suggest: The sides seem to be shorter than what they should. When you cut the piece you need to assembly the sides, you should take into account the front and back side pannels thickness.

Also, you could add a base to it. That would make it look much nicer.

Other than that, it looks interesting.

I think this is one of those \"SO SIMPLE\" ideas and helpfull things that would be best as an Article for ease of reference.

By the way I\'m seriously impressed.

Cheers everyone for the feedback.

I\'ve got pics of all the steps to make this and will post it as an Article soon.

Here\'s a chapel I made, again from 3mm card. Only this time I just used Rough Coat and poly filler to make the conors look shape and not stand out as scored and folded card.

But of course I used some computer and printing skills to add nice touches such as a stained glass window. This is printed on acetate (those transparent sheets for over head projectors). This give the look of glass as well as looking cool if you choose to illuminate the interior.

No I don\'t know if Jesus is worshipped in the Warhammer world but i thought it would make the chapel appear more holy.

The last one is much and much better. The first one looks like a paper building and not very realistic IMO. The second one appears to be very .... \'churchish\' :p
Nice little window there

I totally agree :innocent:

I have two categories of scenery that I make...
The first one is a quick and cheap solution to create a reasonable backdrop to a battlefield. This is a great option if you want to flesh out your battlefield but have little money or time. It has the added bonus of being feather light and easy to store away. It\'s surprisingly robust compared to plastic.

The second one is for pure indulgence to make a really nice piece and to be able enjoy taking your time. I make buildings at this standard if I think they’re going to play a key part to a battle. These ones I stick down on a Perspex base.

I was thinking of putting a base on the cheap version with thick card but I figured that would bow. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to tackle this?
