Imperial Fire Mage

This is a little something I finished for a very kind guy who gave me tons of stuff (miniatures, that is) for free. He converted that guy (free cookie for those who can guess what the original miniature was) and asked me to paint him up for him to use for his new Warhammer Roleplaying Game character:

He's as good as finished now (still needs a base obviously). What do you think? :)

love the dark reds accenting those awesome little boots hes wearing. flames could be made a bit brighter in the white area and a bit darker at the tip. but other than that. awesome work!

@uberdark: Thanks for the comment and the suggestion. I refrained from making the tips of the flames darker because I feared that they'd lose the contrast with the robe then but I guess you're right.

@COG: Hmm, maybe it's the pictured too that take a little of the contrast away... but thanks for the suggestion, I might add some highlights before I send him off.

Here I did a quick and easy base for dungeoncrawling. It's always a bit of a paint to do stuff like that after the miniature is finished already.

I paint my thumb.

I always try to do the base when the mini is about 3/4 done, that way I have less of a tendency to rush it ;)

Nice work, I like the trimming on the robes, this said, I'm in the more contrast camp too.

I usually do Bases first because otherwise I might mess up the existing paintjob but sometimes I just don't think ahead on single miniatures. :p Yah, I might contrast him up a little more.

Ok, I just had to comment...I know you said you did a quick and easy base but I swear I stare at it and stare at it and I can't tell if it's just paint or actually sculpted then painted so...nice job!

Thanks for your comment. :) It's indeed sculpted and "quick and easy" probably was bad wording on my side. It was pretty fiddly and took two days in total due to curing times. Maybe "simple" describes it better.
