Imperial Navy Armsman

Have been working away on this one for a while now but had forgot to post it here.

Decided to do a navy armsman sgt after reading the Ravenor and Eisenhorn books. The body is the FW cadian tank commander with the head from the flagellant sprue (the one in stocks with the hair, stocks and arms removed, new ears and eyes added).

Still WIP but the bulk of the legs are done. The cloth on the lower left leg still needs the folds defined more shaprly though.

The arms have also begun to be developed. Still just the armatures at the moment but you can see how the left arm is beginning to have muscle structure laid out. You can also see how the final pose is going to look.

It\'s looking great so far.
The right leg is looking a little bare though. How about a leg holster or flight harness in keeping wit the theme?

looks cool, hes got a hell of a mug... is he smiling? or showing his warface?

I agree with Baz he needs something on that right leg, but I think a gun might be to bulky Id go with a knife.

Afraid its a little too late to add the pistol holster now. It would require filing quite heavily into the leg to be able to make the fabric sit right around the straps.

As for the flight harness, this is a navy armsman, not a pilot so no need for flight harness. This is one of the guys who would repel boarding actions etc on battle cruisers.

The back of the belt will be getting a gas mask (linking to the ribbed cable from the back) attached to it. Plus, once the right arm is finished properly, the right hand side won\'t look so empty.

I am a big fan of IG with shotguns so this mini is great to me. I like the relaxed pose. He looks like he just finished clobbering a bloodthrister single handedly and is taking a smoke break. Feel like sculpting a cigar in his mouth?

Update:

To clarify on the posing of the arms, the right hand with be resting against the pouch, thumb up, fingers clasped around. The arms will have rolled up sleeves (hence the reason I\'m bothering to sculpt musculature). The shoulders of the sleeves will have patches designating rank, unit, fleet etc. Designs for these will be taken from \"The Gothic and The Eldritch\" navy section. I was contemplating shoulder pads similar to the knee pad design but much smaller, however, these would cover the patches etc so I think I\'ll leave them off.

On to the new pics:

I decided to create a second possibility for the head to test a different expression. It\'s still very WIP and the top of the head needs a bit more shaping with files and the mouth needs alot more work. The eyes also need upper eyelids. I filled the cheeks a little more on this one so that he looks a bit younger.

I quite like the different look so will probably finish both up and paint them both then see which looks best.

Arms are stille very early days yet.

More to follow this week.

A bit of an update. I\'ve done more to the face and arms. Upper right arm is almost finished now. Left still needs plenty of work. The face is almost done, the left eye looks a little off in the pics but I have sorted it since taking them.

More soon, though commission work will be taking precident.

Realised I haven\'t got pics up yet of the most recent state.

Not too much change. I\'ve finished the face off, added some folds to the boots and begun working on a sleeve for the left arm.

The forearm of the left and right arms still need work but its gradually getting there!

And finally, a comparison of the two heads. Both are made from the same piece but the one on the right has had more work changing the expression.
