Yeah, paint lots of minis! There\'s only so much you can accomplish by reading and asking questions. You HAVE to paint a LOT in order to improve your abilities. It can take a year, it can take five years. It\'s different for different people. BUT, you can trust me when I say that it won\'t take a day or a week, or even a month.

re paint stuff. If a part of an eye doesn\'t work then paint over and start again. If it still doesn\'t work then paint over it and start again. Keep your paints thin (though by the looks of Bugman you are) and keep practicing!

right, that\'s my two cents :)

Read some of the articles here on CMON; most of them are really good. Also, take every opportunity to look at other people\'s painting. The more you look at their work and try to figure out how to copy it, the more ideas you\'ll be bringing to your next project. And then, like everyone says, paint as much as you can.

Look, look, look............and take time when looking. Don\'t limit yourself to looking at mini\'s. Look at one little thing for a while........just look. Enjoy it, \'take it in\'. Don\'t rush yourself.
Try to emulate just ONE thing, a shadow, a blend, a tone shift. Important one here - enjoy what you\'re doing. Push but don\'t push too hard. When it becomes drudgery the learning curve falls off sharply.

This article may help you. http://www.coolminiornot.com/article/aid/711

I noticed that my work became real good after I painted minis back to back. When you paint one mini and then move to another and then move to another you begin to notice things about your painting, painting in general and that leads to experimentation. It was through this process that I really began to understand blending and all that other stuff. So I agree with Ritual - paint and paint alot. Also paint as frequently as you can. It can be an hour a day or 10 hours a day, the point is to keep painting. The more you expose yourself to painting the better you will get. Any chance you get to paint do it, and make sure that you do not stop. Try to never go more than a couple of days without putting at least one highlight, shadow or basecoat on a mini. Experience is all you need :)

Obviously if you have homework and all that stuff do that first but never stop painting.

Check back on the numerous tips in the Painting & Conversions forum when similar questions have been asked. If you find a poster whose advice sounds good to you search for their posts in that forum.

The practice part is most important of all - nobody became great at doing something just by reading about it.

By the way, don\'t take the CMON scores that seriously; they frequently don\'t accurately reflect what level something is.

Treat everything as an opportunity to learn more. Always ask yourself and others questions. Be harsh on yourself when critiquing your own work. Ask others for critique and for them to offer as much advise to you as possible.

Always be willing to try new techniques, and try and imitate other painters\' styles. When you try new things, you never know what you may end up loving, and this will morph your style into something better.

Keep practicing!!!
