Stunning! First impressionsare that the standard bearer is my personal favourite- there\'s so much movement there. The hero is cool too, but I\'m not sure about that horn thing attached to the horses mouth. Without that, I think that one would be my fave. It does look pretty demonic tho, so I guess that\'s the reason for the horn. The detail on all of them is fabulous. What scale are they, and where can I buy one?

Edit: Ok, I should wait until I\'ve seen everything before I ask questions. Those things are 28mm? That\'s even more impressive! :wow:

wow 28mm? I agree I don\'t like the horn on the horse either, but I do like the Venerable guy - there\'s a lot of character in that mini. The movement in the other 2 is top.

Really effective pose and losts of potential.

Edit I take that back. This one is superb observation. The splayed rear legs of the horse and the overall posture are completely accurate with and exhausted horse. As for the rider, well you just know he\'s dead.
(It reminds me of a Napleonic Diorama Lynn Sangster did way back in the early 70\'s with dying French cavalryman).

Whoever sculpts their horses is some kind of genius, I\'ll say that!


Random question: These seem to be targetted at WH players who want something a bit more \"quality\" than GW provides. BUT, given GW\'s attitude towards protecting their IP and ensuring minis used in their events (tournies, GD, etc) are purely their own, is there really a big market for this sort of miniature? Or would mostly collectors and casual gamers be buying them?

No it\'s not a random question, it\'s a very good one.
In Open house/Club tournaments Gamezone figures Should be welcome and I do know one or two players who have purchased figures as \"Characters\".
If the store managed is more \"relaxed\" then player could get away with fielding a few, in store, as long as it\'s not a whole army or being rude about it.
But for a GW tourament they\'d be Disqualified.

Thanks! Ok, so there is scope to use them at a local level. That\'s something. After all, GW is a company and won\'t do so well if it lets all and sundry use minis from other companies in their officially sponsored events. They have to think about their profits, and making it so you HAVE to buy their products if you want to enter their competitions, well, it\'s understandable. Especially from the PoV of their shareholders!

I\'ve bought a whack of Gamezone mini\'s for my Warhammer armies. Including the dead mount \"Gloria Invicta\" and the \"Venerable Thamaturge\" mentioned above. Yet to crack them and start playing though.

I just thought I\'d chime off on what these figs mean to me as a die hard Warhammer player and very loyal GW supporter....

The reason I found these figs and ordered them are the same reason I\'ve ordered mini\'s from AoW, MaxMini, DragonForge bases and a whack of others, they\'re not only cool models but when you put them on a table they really set your army apart from the usual all GW model armies. Gaurantee you paint any of those bad boys up and you\'re opponent will want to know about them, and you\'ll get many \"ooh\'s and ah\'s\".

I am a crap converter and sculpting is about as mysterious to me as assembling an A-Bomb so I have to look to the marketplace to find the next super cool and unique thing.

I\'ll never NOT buy GW figs. I also feel that the quality from GW is top notch, I just look to these other companies when I want a little extra cool factor or just something different.

So now that I\'ve given up my volunteer position as a Grey Knight (It\'s what the program is called in Canada) I am under no more obligation then the next guy to buy or even play GW stuff but I always will because I do think there stuff is quality.

Gamezone, Avatars of War and many other companies I\'m forgetting are making super cool figs that I am more then happy to buy and paint, but I am also understanding of the fact that they won\'t be GW legal when I play in one of there tournies. I can respect that as well.

Thanks very much for your thoughts Scott. It\'s interesting to hear how these \"alternative\" non-GW figures are viewed. I can understand perfectly about wanting to be distinctive- it\'s one of the reasons I almost always veer away from doing \"official\" paint schemes.

I have to admit to being seriously tempted to several of their figures.
The Vampire \"Leonora\" is one I that someone I know would love for their army.

Yup! After I asked my knee-jerk questions, I took a little time to do a bit of googling. THIS is their website, I believe. Thanks for flagging them up, when I have some cash, I may take advantage of how comparatively local they are to me! lol

One of the most breath taking fig\'s I\'ve EVER seen. One of the few where it would be a shame to see it painted up. There\'s something about seeing it as just a sculpt that\'s so powerful....The Pieta just wouldn\'t come off the same painted.lol

they have some superb stuff. the casting isn\'t always the best but the sculpting on all of them is gw lord level and usually cheaper. need to buy more (put hem on the list for salute)
