I don\'t paint NMM so take this for what it\'s worth.

Depending on the effect you want:

For dullish metal caught by the sun at the high points:
Your final highlight is too wide. Instead of looking like sun glinting off the metal, it looks like a stip of white.

or

For highly polished metal that reflects a lot of sun:
Your graduation from dark to light is compressed into too narrow a section. If you want the look of highly polished metal you need have the majority of the breast plate closer to white than grey.

Hopefully one of the many people experienced in NMM will have a better insight for you.

Colours are good
It looks like the light is hitting from the left.If thats what you want then fine.

Have a browse through the Rackham minis for some good examples.

Looks good...

...I think the edges of the reflective part could benefit from a little more dulling/blending in for a possibly more natural shine look. :D Keep us updated on progress ;)

I\'m not sure if the others have a different picture than me, but, with all due respect, this doesn\'t really look metallic. In fact, it looks like a grey area with a white stripe going through it.

I would advise you to blend it in a lot better, making the white strip smaller in the process. Maybe try some tweening. Blend that strip in and I think it would look decent.

i\'m with mosch on this one
its ok to be polite and kind but sometimes it can be too much
firt of all i would suggest to:
- thin down the paints (yes i know, everybody says that but guess why? its a MUST ;))
- paint cleaner. it will give much better definitions
- smoother blends, as mosch suggested. i know this can be hard on the small lotr scale but it will certainly pay off
- darker shades in the lower areas, like the whole right part of his armour. it will give you a more realistic look because in my opinion it looks grey, and not like steel as it is right now
- if you blackline ... blackline the whole line, not just parts of it, or paint over the black lines again. i know its a WIP and perhaps you were going to do that later but i thought i should mention it
- about the face: if you used inks, and to me its seems that you did: dont use them, they give you a strange glaze and a very shiny look and have a pretty bad flow. of course thats just my opionion and i know some people love inks. i dont ;)
- use some more layers of paint on the face. i guess you used about 2 or 3. the face is the center of a humanoid miniature and you should pay special attention to it. its the most characterful piece of a miniature.
- it appears weary and somehow \"undead\" to me. from the name \"imrahil\" i guess its an elf so i suggest a brighter skincolour like a basecoat of tanned flesh and then from dwarf flesh/elf flesh highlighted to pallid flesh or elf flesh/white

just my 2 cents. remember: everyone is biased, so if you dont agree with me on various points: dont worry, its just the opinion of a single person (me) ^^
