Hi folks, i started my new project: IMROD
I really like the mini it is really well done with a quite good evil look! I will try to make it less cartoony than my other minis.
I will really appreciate some guidance on this mini. I would like to achieve a similar look than this picture

So here my first base color applied, what do you think about this skin tone? I plan to shadow it with a dark grayish blue, and highlight to a light gray:

A quick update after few minute painting the first shadow with dar blue and bit of dark grey. What do you think?

the tummy is looking really nice so far. noot a fan of that model though.

oh i love this model, wierd enough for me! have to paint it myself at some point. anyway, i think its a really nice start. i think at this point you should add more blue/purple in the shading than grey, to make it more interesting. will follow this thread

Ok, here the next step. I have added some shadow to the belly and add some reddish color where the rings are. What do you think?
On the other side should i highlight more the skin?
For the stripes on the body i have made them in two different ways to see the result. On the right, the fire, lava effect is coming from below (the skin itself). On the left the stripes itself are light up. Which one have the best effect acording to you?

the ones on the right i prefer=) more highlights on the skin would probably help, i cant help but feel he needs a little more contrast!

Looks like a cool model, mate. If you want to achieve the same look as the first pic, you'll probably need to go darker, or work with lots of washed layers.

Ok I will continue the right side to see how it turns out on bigger surface!

So far I really liked the model. request a bit of green stuff when assembled but still manageable. I working with lots of layers on the skin to make nice smooth transition, for the skin stripes, I am still trying to figure out if I should go like on the picture or if like Ischa suggested by reversing it? I would like to reach a better painting skills with this mini, my technique is improving but still lack of color sense. I realized that this is the most difficult, actually it is not the technique itself!
