This has been editted to include just the news, if I have any updates, they will probably just be on my page.
Wow, the news is in... and this is BIG. Many of you remember this page not loading very well, or not loading at all correct? And practically everyone has gotten in touch with me by phone \"I emailed you, you never emailed me back\" and it hasn\'t really seemed to make much difference which account the email was to. I just got off the phone with EBay. I\'d sent them a \"web form\" to get a refund on something. They processed the refund, never emailed me, and a few days later, an independent polling company emailed me and said \"How did you enjoy working with EBay?\" So I replied, stating that they never even contacted me.
They called me back... and let me tell you... the news I got confirmed every scary thought I\'ve had going through my head through this entire webpage disaster.
EBay is currently contacting thousands of customers, trying to get an idea of where all of these emails are going. They\'re not popping any error messages... A lot of people are having trouble loading the page. I, for one, can\'t load EldarOnline except by entering the IP address which makes no sense whatsoever (and my ISP acknowledges this but can\'t figure out what\'s wrong). The current theory is that the internet, for lack of a better term is \"overloaded\". Theories abound as to why - my personal one is the routers are getting hit too hard. Another idea is that a group of hackers are hitting key places in the net to slow and sometimes stop traffic.
For EBay to be calling 1000\'s of customers and saying \"We\'re trying to figure out why our emails aren\'t getting through and why our images won\'t load for a lot of users\" is very bizarre. This is a terrible way to handle such a problem if you didn\'t want to create a PR nightmare, which indicates to me this is not a joking matter. I really have no idea what the ramifications of these recent troubles are going to be and I haven\'t seen any \"credible\" news story about it (then again, they just started the calls). But in any case, more than anything this is intended to be a heads up in case something bad does happen in the near future on the net. Thanks for tuning in.
