Now see what I have a hard time understanding is why are there ill feelings when the US acquired the southwestern states from primarily the spanish over 100 years ago???
Who took it from the natives, who supposedly migrated from somewhere else and probably disposessed another group...... The historical reality is land belongs to whoever can hold it.

Not entirely true even if I agree with the general sentiment. Land has been given back at numerous occations during history. Sometimes I forget how young a nation you really are. 150 years is nothing... 1658 we got a province called Skåne from the danes. We still make jokes that we ought to turn it back lol And the hypocricy on this area is stupifying, ethnical majorities/minorities wanting to have a land of their own and then refusing the same right to others...

People, can\'t we all just drop grudges and learn to live in the world as it is?
No...As much as we all want to belive in a Golden Age of Humanity, people have always been inherently bad.

Sources on that one! :) It doesn\'t make sense if you study our behaviour. Or is it original sin you\'re thinking of?

The funniest part about the whole thing is: this originated in a marketing department in Sweden. Fairly ethnically homogenous population there. Depends on who you compare with, fairly is a good word actually. We have accepted around 50-100,000 immigrants / year over the last decades and on a population of only 9,000,000 that is pretty much. On ethnical fractionalisation indexes of the \"western\" countries we are about in the middle which is interesting because we have been so homogenous before.
