Information on Official GW Space Marine Helmet, Full-Size

Granddad!
Hiya
Yeah it is Official GW, they were given to each store for promo use, to be displayed in the store (usually the window). I was working in Maidstone at the time and I'm pretty sure they were generally painted up as Ultramarines, but I don't think that lasted too long in most stores.

Ah! no wait! I think we got them unpainted actually, and painted them ourselves whatever chapter we wanted, and yes there should be some pipe work on the cheeks.

I'll check with the manager on Tuesday and see if he recalls what happened too our one (was quite a few years ago tho)

As for collectibility, well they were only given out one per store which at the time was about 200 ( I open to correction on this) so...... up to you on that one :smile-big:

I'll see if I can find out any more

cheers

Mick

Yep remember I this in a couple of stores.
One thing to be aware of though, several were stolen from the stores themselves.

That only becomes a problem if GW can prove that this one was actually stolen. I bet they haven't kept a track of where all the helmets are / ended up and I wouldn't be surprised if a few of them have been trashed.
Worst case scenario is that GW would demand their property back - but for that to happen they would have to prove that that specific helmet was stolen / unlawfully sold. And that assumes they would actually be bothered to go through all that hassle just for a helmet.

Police report of theft combined with photographic eveidence of the property, in this case a rare item.
Mate, understand the Law and the legal system first as your way of thinking won't help you (habius corpus no longer exists in this country anymore so it's up to YOU to prove it if it was taken further)
i'm only trying to help you by pointing out some huge problems with your argument.

to be the devils advocate chris, surely they would need the proof that it was theirs that was stolen. if somone turns up with a car and someone else has had theirs nicked, it's up to them to prove that it was theirs that they have

If their was a police report to do with the possibility of said item being stolen and gw are the only maker of said item then that would be enough for a case to go ahead (still not on strong ground but enough)
Mate, our entire legal system is now different, the state can find you guilty just on it's own say so (you are even not garaunteed a jury any more) as of the 1st dec 2009 when the system of corpus jurus came into effect.

Napoleonic law now mate as the EU laws overide our own.

That GW were the only maker is not enough to prove theft unless they can show that they NEVER allowed these items to be sold, never allowed any to be thrown away, etc. To prove theft in this case would be very hard against Manda as this happened years ago, even proving handling stolen goods would be difficult as he has stated that he bought it in good faith believing it to be a fan made item.

I know we used to have one in GW Cov but I can't remember what happened to it. I vaguely remember it got given away as a prize for something.

Judging by the amount of care we took of it I seriously doubt GW is going to come round demanding it back.

I saw at least three of them being part of cosplays and banner poles at this year's GD, if no one reacted then I'm pretty sure they won't care now either

Artefacts are not "my thing" but I would guess around £50 -£100 possibly. A lot will depend on whether there are enough fanboys out there who are looking for a project. Sell it on Ebay and you only need 2 who want it to get a good price.
Modding it would probably be the better idea but bear in mind that from the looks of things the amount of time it will take to make that look really good will not be reflected in the price if you choose to sell it.

Didn't some garage vacuum forming company in the US start making these a while back and GW called them on it and they stopped, had to "destroy the moulds"? I remember hearing they sold less than 100 before they were axed. These pop up on ebay every once in a while, saw one about 2 years ago sell for around $100.
