Hey guys, can you give me some feedback on this model? I\'ve tried a few new things and want to see what you think.

My life got so much easier too when I learned it\'s better to use bone white to highlight gold ;)

Anyways, I just posted the pic up at

EDIT: Ok, I just uploaded a picture of Coteaz and his retinue at:
http://www.coolminiornot.com/?id=28451 if you want to take a second look at him, and how he fits with the warband

Looks good to me too.

I have posted comments over there but kept them short. I think this is a good job overall, I reall like your gold and I think you have done a wonderful job on his head and face. If you asked me to be picky, which you havelol, I would say that the piping on the robe and ][ insignia is a little untidy. My eyes kept getting drawn to the eagles talons. They don\'t look quite right to me, almost as if you had forgotten to paint them and they are still wearing undercoat. Their brightness does detract from that area of the model IMO. The only other two things I noticed are minor but hard to fix and I am almost loathe to point out the mould lines on the ferrule of the hammer and the casting imperfection on the point of the robe. Such details are utter b*stards to deal with on a finished model and I suggest you leave them alone.
I have spent hours de-flashing a model and then have noticed that I have \'missed a bit\' only when the model is finished. Its a bummer.
Having been \'picky\' however, it is a really sound job and I would certainly be proud to have it in my collection.:bouncy:

Finn: No, thats a wonderful critique :) Thank you for the input, and you are right :) I can go back and try to fix the talons and stuff. :)

I\'m lazy when it comes to removing flash sometimes:p

Well, I am glad if it helps..

I don\'t normally try to find points for improvement unless someone actually asks. It always feels very uncomfortable to provide meaningful comments on someone\'s mini. Your\'s was a pleasure to do however \'cos 95% of it was brill.
Thing is, from your point of view, as the painter, if you don\'t agree with what someone says in a comment, I think it is important that you tell them because this is a two-way street!:bouncy:

Finn: See if that is a little more to your liking.

The only thing I can think of is the little stripe at the bottom of the tabard, it doesn\'t look as carefully done as some other parts of the mini. I know painting straight over top a folded piece of cloth is hard to do, but it\'s easy to tell when you mess it up. I\'ve had to do a couple over again when I had the same problem, so you\'re not the only one :D

smoother transitions on shading and highlighting specially on his armor and face. maybe mixing down the highlight paint with water or thinning inks before using them. it looks like all the detail is everywhere just needs to be smoother.

he looks great with his band and he looks way cool at normal size. maybe a clean pic of him sized inbetween his reinue and his large pic would do better rating wise.

also things that can help single models up are larger very neatly done bases, either with him permately attached or removable having his circle base consistent with his large decorative base. conversions never hurt if you do em right. maybe have his eagle perched on some ruin behind him and have him holding a gun or something. but i think since his base is mostly hidden if you made a larger removable one that would add to your score and to the character of the figure, where he is, what hes doing, base colors complimenting him with dark overtones.

That does look better from what I can see...

He\'s a bit further away now though so it\'s hard to tell. But anyway the rest of the gang look good enough to warrant their own individual slots. Stick them up so we can have a closer look. I always browse on \'random\' so It would be nice to have a quick gander at a bit of quality:bouncy:
