Inquistor Rebus - Scratchbuilt Bust

Hi all!!

Hope you all had a great time at Golden Demon. Here\'s my entry to the Open Category...........obviously I didn\'t win anything, otherwise I\'d be dancing and singing!!!

Inquistor Rebus

He\'s 100% scratchbuilt, inspired by an illustration from the Inquisitor rulebook. Lots of fun to do, a little ropey in places, but learnt loads from the experience.

comments are always appreciated, whether good or bad!

Awesome. To me it seems the torso part dominates instead of 50/50 head-torso combination. The head is so realistic and is painted so well that I would have loved to see the head be bigger or the torso part be less emphasized. Thats just an opinion but this is just more proof that your skills are killa. Congrats on a job well done.

This is great and is one piece that did make me go \'ooh!\' at gamesday. Such a tough category to compete in though, its always gonna be hard against GW studio staff though!

Using my elbows I actually managed to get a glimpse of it! :) It was really nice.. I\'ll make a longer comment when I get home!

1.30min left on the Internet connection.. what to do.. what to do?

Well.. great meeting you Orb! Glad we could have a long and relaxed conversation on the hotel! :)

I saw this and loved it the only thing is I agree with the comments above..The head appears slightly small and the neck then looks a bit extended....
Overall such a stunning skillful piece and a testament to your great skills.

Thanks for all the positive comments.

Well, the head is small as he\'s in some powerarmour, and was similar to the illustration. DH has hit the nail on the head with the extendend neck. The head was seperate to be painted and was supposed to be sitting deeper in the neck. But when I added it, I overlooked the fact I hadn\'t seated it properly! Doh, and it was too late when I realised. Part of the learning experience.

Busts are funny old things these days...........you sometimes get threequater figures in historicals that are busts wiht arms included too. Artistic licence.

Closeups will follow, together with additional angles............

Sven; a lazy lunch was just perfect! Great to spend time with you, and HUGE congratulations on your success!

Hello Orb, I met you for all of a minute on the day. Would have liked to hang around but I started to feel to awkward about not doing my GW duty checking through the winner\'s Power Point presentation for the big screen like I was meant to and had to run off again!

I didn\'t really say much about it then, but yours was definately one of the nicer Open entries. I especially like the sneering, completely full of confidence look he has. Just the sort of expression I\'d expect an Inquisitor to be sporting.

And yeah, there were a few less good areas on the model (I think that ropey is going a bit to far) with some slight anatomical innacuracies and slightly less smooth than they could be areas, but the overall impression it gives is awesome.

I certainly think it was better than the Death Corps diorama that came second, so you could say that you were robbed!

Granddad!
excellent work Rob

...but I think you could be right about the head positioning and size not helping...
one of those \"that\'s a really nice piece...\" but something in the back of your brain is saying something\'s not quite right

Indeed, I wasn\'t even sure what about it was off till I read the post and went back to look then it was obvious. Gave it a 9 anyway cause it\'s still pretty darn cool.

Fatastic model, both the sculpt and the painting. Although the head does seem a little bit small, it does give over the idea of having large armour. Personal tastes i guess. But well done on such a lovely sculpt.
If u dont mind me asking, what paints did you use for the skin tones?

The flesh was from a Jaume Ortiz mix; Vallejo MC Brown Sand, with some turquoise and white added...........highlights with sunny skintone and white added, shadows with cadmium maroon

Got it from the spanish team site.. hope you dont mind me posting it Rob

this whole mini is great, but! I think the clothing on his chest looks a bit... boring. Add some freehand or a medal or anything and it wouldve been a bit more interesting, great job otherwise!
