That is bizarre! I can\'t see any reason, besides what was proposed in the article, for why they would build such a thing. ??? Probably has something to do with aliens... :innocent:

Well aliens maybe or perhaps the next Peter Jackson movie.

engineers would use it to scale model possible buildings. dams, railways, roads etc.

i can\'t see how a pilot could use that to familiarise themselves with anything. and it\'s too small an area for training anyway.

Ground plotting Simulators.
Best way to train someone without actually flying the terrain.
Either that or plotting software for onboard targetting computers.

I have heard rumors of a similar Chinese construct which is a scale replica of Taiwan used to train commanders and pilots for impending war with Taiwan. I have not seen pictures however.

I did enjoy the exchange over the Ozzie \"flying car\" though.

I\'m pretty sure they\'ve got all the simulators they need to train their pilots. However, no simulator can replace on-the-field training of the helicopters/airplanes themselves...
And, well, I guess you know much better some area if you\'ve been walking in a replica of it for some months, than if you\'ve only been seeing it behind screens... There remain some feelings that no matter how powerful computers are, they can\'t convey to humans.
