Intigrated Bases

Seems most people don\'t like them, going so far as to grind them off. But i like them. i could just stick a WarZone slotta on the space marine i\'m working on (heck, i have over 30 of them) but i think he\'d look cool with an intergrated base. So maybe if i knew why people disliked them so much i could take that into mind while i make his base. Is it a structural thing? i know that integrated based minis seem to fall over more than slotta based minis, but that can be fixed. Is it the square with dots that\'s supposed to be grass? Don\'t like those bases myself, but again that can be fixed. So what\'s everyone\'s dislikes on integrated bases?

Oh, and this is the mini that\'s getting it, an overhauled Space Wolf Caption who got a bad batch of gene seed;

The classic \"Broccoli\" base IMHO detracts from the Painters ability to create something unique.
It either gets buried or carefully cut off. Which is a pain but leaves me able to do something that I want and not what the original sculptor produced.

Similarly the GW Slotta base tab is in itself more often removed if I want to create something which has my \'stamp\' on it rather than the GW studios sand and \'whatever\' base.

bunch of ingrates!!

The integrated base SUCKS!. Especially the brocolli one. They are hard to remove properly, limits what can be done with a fig, and end up making more work, instead of saving work.

Give me a little foot peg or a slottabase anyday!

Ah, so it\'s the tear down, not the build up that gets on the nerves. So i can sculpt up somethin\' purdy and not have to answer a million and three \"why the integrated base\" complaints?:)

Why do you want to sculpt an integrated base?

Surely it\'s easier to sculpt onto a separate (slotta?) base, then attach him?

Plus he won\'t \'fit in\' with any other slotta based troops....???

I agree with Scott here... Why? Sure you can sculpt a nice looking base for him, but do you really want a small oval shaped thing instead of a nice round one with a neat looking rim? ??? That\'s my biggest problem with integrated bases: They are small (can\'t do much with them and they fall over easily), and they tend to look messy since they don\'t have a nice shape and no rim.

Well, i guess i\'m in the minority here. i don\'t like that rim. When i place him on the table i want him to look like he belongs on that table, not an 1/8 of an inch above it. You\'re right though, he wont fit in with any other troops... that\'s why he\'s going on my shelf for everyone to (hopefully) drowl over:D
