Just wondering (No, I don\'t have one)...for the iPhone, are you able to NOT update the software/firmware patches via iTunes or are they mandatory?

Are there other hacked options other than iTunes (I know they have them for iPods) so that the new patch Apple is talking about won\'t take effect?

Apple will never automatically download anything without authorisation by means of the users password.

So (I don\'t have an iPhone) but i\'m assuming you will either download iTunes updates to your computer and then when the phone is plugged in it will update.
Or the iPhone will download it\'s own software.

All you will have to do is uncheck, or deselect \'Automatically check for updates\' then Apple won\'t even ask you if you want to download the new firmware.

Although it is normally for better than worse if you do get it, but I suppose it\'s entirely up to you.

If I understand it right, Apple is firing back at the hacked phones. Apparently it will have a software update that will deactivate the hacked ones.
