Rightio, I\'ve done some more work on the chains and I\'m pretty happy with them. A couple of the lengths look a little weird but they\'ll do for now. And hooks for the ends, that\'s definitely next. It\'s nearly done, and soon I\'ll be anchoring it to the base.

Anyways, enough talk and more pics:

Thanks for the help guys, it\'s helped me to nail the image a bit better. I was kinda stuck. :)

Lol, sorry I was going to answer that question! Yeah, this will be for a full army. I haven\'t got many ideas for the troops yet, but they\'ll come. :) I\'m thinking of two squads of marines with a Rhino each. I was half considering either making walking rhinos, which I have NO idea how to approach (Star wars anyone?) or to build some Clouseau pattern rhinos...or just calm down and use normal ones... :)

Looking good! See, less is the new more :D And hooks! Trey Manific (phonics works for me :D )
A question tho, what the spiky bar thing on the back of the leg (sticking up on the second pic, little piece of wood at the end)? Some sort of support that reinforces the legs when the main gun is fired?

That was the intention. I\'m not sure if I pulled it off convincingly though. To me it looks a little weak. I intend to leave it on this though, and if I get the appropriate motivation I\'m going to be making 2 more of these vindies anyway and will either fix this part of the design on them or use two different designs.

Well, I have been stuffing around this arvo and not really done anything...lol; I\'ve just been playing around with some loyalist marines that I had lying around that I\'ll convert to chaos dudes as well.

Here are the pics of what I finished off on the Vindicator:

FUN!

I\'m a bit over building the vindicator at the moment so I won\'t be doing any more vindicators for a bit. We\'ll see how that goes, anyway.

Hummmm. I think that I\'m starting to see a theme here.
Is that ork walker based on a plastic BattleMech?

The stompa is a complete scratchbuild too. :)

As for your basic guys, I have been using Iron Warriors, Iron Hands, Chaos marines, Khorne berzerker and fantasy chaos warrior bits to good effect to do up my basic troops. Legs and torsos from Khorne berzerkers, mixed with everything from the regular chaos marines. I use the Heads fromt he Fantasy chaos warriors as well as their banners for icons(i put these in squads before i got to use them just because they looked cool!) and then the bionic bolter arms from the iron hands. toss in some of the \"actual\" iron warriors bits and you are good to go.

Mixed up properly these make for some great looking marines. I can get you some pics if you want.

I must say, when i first say the photo of the vindicator I was not sold on it, but by the time it got finished I am loving the thing, well done!

Here\'s my current progress - the beginning of the troops. This mean ass dude is based on a standard marine which I had bits of lying around, so I took the liberty of convincing him to deny his loyalist creed. Took me a little while but he\'s mostly there. Tomorrow we should see the final scerics of his being devoured by chaos... muahahahahaha!

Anyways, onto pics:

Heres what I got done today, just a little coz I had to do other stuff as well, so I didn\'t get to finish everything I wanted to. Oh well.

The dude with the old school techmarine backpack will count as a sergent/champ or whatever they are with a powerfist. I\'m using some space wolf models and bits, and I think space wolves already look part chaos anyway so they\'re a good start here. :)

looking very kool, im liking the bionics and the chains seem to tie them all together and make them look that bit more chaos.;
where do you get suck small guage chain from??? i cant seem to find it???

The small chain I\'m using on here is just jewellery chain...pretty cheap. I need to get me some fine guage brass chain though in the proper link format, I like that better.

I just thought of something. What did you make the barrel of the vindicator from. I\'m think that I may need a longish piece of that stuff, to get the rifling right for a upcoming project.

I don\'t know if I\'ll be able to find any more myself! It\'s a pen that came as a freebie from a company here. I\'m looking for similar things for my own coz I need to make 2 more of these vindies to complete what I want to do with the army. :)

I did find a cool article done by someone where they got some thin plasticard and a scorer, they drew a stretched out \"S\" shape on the card, cut a template to reproduce that \"S\", and then marked graduated points along the edge of the card. Then they scored along the plasticard at each interval, cut the plasticard to size and rolled it up to fit into the barrel. It looked really good, but was a bit fiddly.

Well I\'ve made a bit of progress today. I only really completed the aspiring champ and then got bored with converting loyalist to rebels so I cleaned off the parts from all the sprues ready to start assembling the standard chaos marine bodies. Only for chaos space marines, no termies or other types. It turns out I\'ll have almost 40 marines in the end, which is pretty cool. I didn\'t expect to have that many in the end so I\'m pretty happy.

Then after I finish all the termies I should end up with 9 in total.

SO! When I get to the end of the assembly I should have:

38 Marines, Champs and Lord
9 Terminators
3 Vindicators
3 Defilers

Maybe I\'ll do 3-4 Rhinos and if I go TOTALLY insane, I might go to a superheavy like a titan or something. Or if my bro goes and sees a baneblade it might be time for one of those... :)

Here\'s some pics of what I did today:

I really like how he turned out, it\'s better than I expected that\'s for sure! His kit out is power fist (represented by the servo arm) and combi melta. My idea for the army is incredibly shooty, everything taking heavy a$$ weapons and the like. It won\'t have a good deal of close combat, but the idea is that most things should be kept at arms length.

That\'s the plan, anyway. I expect things to go south though. They always do. :)
