Is all freehand done with a pencil?

Has anyone tried transferring a tracing...?

ie. Drawing a design onto tracing paper nice and firmly with a soft pencil and then tracing over it onto a mini...?

one little tip when first starting out with freehand.....

Make sure your painting it over an area that is easy to correct...

So for examplepaint it over a standard colour that you can easily remix and touch up rough areas...

If it is on an area with multiple highlights and spreads over them basically use a mid tone of the colour you are painting over to provide a border to the design..
