Is Angelina over-rated? (name change on topic)

Well since I seem to have started a small discusson on rating Ms Jolie let me clarify my point of view.
Ok let me state that I know she\'s not a train wreck, I just think that as far as looks go there are more attractive women out in the Real World as well as in movies.

It\'s like Marilyn Monroe, some men find that she was the epitome of a sexy woman. I don\'t.
Personally, in terms of \"Classic Hollywood\" looks my preferences are to Ingrid Bergman and Audrey Hepburn.
(Lets leave aside the Hot Dead Chicks discussion for later as that\'s a whole other (slightly twisted) topic.)

I\'ve already mentioned in several prevous threads Actresses that I think are attractive and I\'m not going to do an exhaustive list here, but look up; Palminder Nagra, Mia Sara and Helen Hunt to name just a handful that I think have more appeal than Ms Jolie.

Let\'s see, there\'s a lot to run down here!

The plane story: good job by the football team!

Angelina: Not the very hottest woman on the planet... but in the upper few percentiles.

For DR, \"Classic\" Hollywood: Myrna Loy!

Sexual peak: I think the joke is that by the time men have actually managed to figure out just what to do in that arena, they\'re well passed their peak, whereas by the time women have it all sorted, they\'re just hitting the prime.

I changed the title of the thread. This is not where I expected this to go but, hey, I\'m flexible.

I\'d do Angelina. Seriously. She beautiful. Of course she\'s losing some of her looks as she gets older but then all we women do, don\'t we. You guys just get better as you age. It\'s one of god\'s little jokes. <sigh>

It has something to do with the peak of ones sex drive.......

Ok, this has to better explained. I mean, men supposedly peak at 18 (I hardly believe that but whatever) and women peak in their 30\'s (I\'d say 40\'s but again whatever). So men get better after their peak and women get worse? Hmmmmmm........still sounds like a bad joke to me.

I\'m of the opinion that this is God\'s way of making it up to us guys for what our bodies were like in Jr. High (smelly, gangly, greasy, acne and cracking voices).

Every Hollywood actress is over rated..take away the makeup, the plastic surgery and the expensive clothes and they are just like every other woman.

I would tend to agree.

She is a beautiful woman, but I hate the power and influence she has just because she is \'hot\' and in movies.

Celebrity worship is one of the worse ills of our current culture.

What are we rating her on?
The \'as a whole\' thing is just too complex without getting professional judges.
On a scale of 1-10 for various categories:

Appearance: 7.5
Personality: (Based on one brief meeting) 7
Posture: 9
Acting ability: 5.8
Political Adeptness: 6 (which is 9 points higher than most politicians)
The rest of the categories, I don\'t even know the names of.

Couldn\'t agree more. Other than reading lines others have written and being wealthy, what makes them qualified to be taken so seriously?

I think Angelina Jolie stole Maria Schriever\'s cheekbones here just recently. Seriously... you could put an eye out with those things.

I think she\'s a remarkably striking and poised woman (can\'t comment on the personal/political thing... don\'t follow celeb gossip). However, I saw Wanted last week and good gravy but somebody needs to buy that woman a sandwich. Maybe a chip or two wouldn\'t hurt either.

I have to agree with the other comments that make the point that, while good looking, she\'s certainly not the MOST beautiful woman in the world or even in Hollywood.

And while there are a number of women in Hollywood that are good-looking: Kiera Knightly, Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Biehl, Liv Tyler, Catherine Zeta Jones, Kate Beckinsale, Katherine Heigl, Eva Longoria, and Jessica Alba among them, my wife (and I\'m not saying this just to earn points because she won\'t be reading it) is easily as beautiful and has more class and character in her left pinkie toe than the sum total of the rest of them put together.

I\'d love to see any of them do in a week what my wife accomplishes day in and day out and without all the glamour and fanfare.

Here\'s to real women with real class!

And you\'ve just described the majority of the politicians. lol Seriously spot on!

I think everybody should take a stance if they could. There are worse things they could do... I guess. Not their fault, really.

It has to be something human in that we need those people sometimes, becoming involved in their life as a way of not dealing with our own. Just as some use TV-series I guess. It\'s about dreams perhaps.
