Do female, \'cheesecake\' figs get a much higher rating than others?
I have one figure that I worked like a dog on and when it was finished, patted myself on the back because it was one of the best things I had ever done. The result? An average of 7.3. Not too shabby.
Next I put a figure of a weretigress that I painted up in about an hour using shades of grey only. Just for fun, just an exercise. Turned out ok. So I posted her. The result? An average of 7.7.

So my question is, is it possible that cute, female figures get a higher rating merely because of thier obvious \"assets\" or as someone so quaintly put it \"look at the artistic merits on HER!!!\"
What do you think????

I think you are right.
The sculpt counts toward the vote, no doubt there. Female sculpts garner more points.
I think if you watch eBay you might see that female minis also bring higher dollar amounts.

Mmmmh, cheesecake!

Cheesecake beats paintjob, everytime, as long as we are talking the same level of attention.

Say, you have two minis, one is very clothed, and the other is not. Providing you put the same amount of work into each, the bimbo will get a higher score every time.

While sometimes an average paintjob will get voted higher if it\'s on a cheesecake mini, it is also true that a cheesecake mini requires AT LEAST a competent paintjob to be apreciated. It\'s kinda all or nothing, in that regard. An strictly \"5\" or tabletop paintjob on a semi-naked mini will often slide to 4 or below, while a \"6\" paintjob will undoubtely climb over time...

Hard cheesecake?

I agree with everything that has been said, but IMO some of the so-called \'cheesecake\' minis are very difficult to paint. Just through sheer experience I find things like armour, chainmail etc extremely easy to paint. I am sure that most of the painters on this site can churn out \'space marine - type\' minis in their sleep. I have found it extremely difficult however, to render some of the say, Fianna minis from Rackham (which I don\'t actually regard as \'cheesecake\' but which do contain a lot of flesh) to a level with which I am happy. I would say therefore that when I see one of these done well, it may get a rounded-up score.
There is a general principle involved as well, I yawn everytime a painted SM appears. Such a figure has to be extremely well-done to achieve a high score. This is not a bias, but simply a side-effect of being a (relatively) old git and having painted hundreds of the buggers. Novelty therefore plays a role in one\'s appreciation of a mini.
On a similar, but different, point it has been my observation that certain genres of minis also seem to score slightly higher points. I think to a large extent this is inevitable. I like orcks and goblins so when I see a well-painted one I get a warm glow which may be reflected in the score. Sometimes this is because I have also painted the same mini and I can recognise the effort that has been applied. I often think that Chaos minis receive higher scores than they deserve, but this is simply my perception and I am sure that Chaos fans may well feel that greenskins are overrated. To finally get to my point: as \'cheesecake\' is likely to appeal across all allegiances it could be receiving \'rounded-up\' points from many more people?

heh . . I was thinking about arguing that Rackham - no matter what the fig or quality of photo gets hyperinflated votes. I guess we all have our pet theories . . .

I haven\'t met a cheesecake I didn\'t like.

Oh we\'re talking about minis?!?!?! Yeah, boobs do seem to get more points, providing they haven\'t poked out the viewer\'s eyes. One reason may be that sex sells basically everything. Another reason could be that some of the cheesecake minis are in fact very well sculpted/painted.

Funny enough, my scantily clad chick is one of my lowest rated minis.

A fella will always see the tits and asses through the paint job!

A very well sculpted and painted scantilly clad female will garner a high vote any day. We can\'t help ourselves. We see the slightest hint of female flesh (whether real or painted metal!) and we\'re jibbering, drooling fools with a lob on!

lol
