... or is there a lot of crap posted on CMON the last couple of weeks? I almost check for new, interesting submissions every day, but when I open the \"browse gallery\" screen, most scores are in the 5-6.5 range. Sometimes there\'s an 8 or higher, but you\'ll have to find hard to discover that one between all the other inferior paintjobs.

I hope I\'m not insulting anyone with this post, I know everyone should start somewhere (hey, I\'m also still ranked 200+ at this site), but this is a trend i\'ve noticed for a while now...

What do you guys think?

Well, the mean for the site is currently around 6.4 . So for every score above that, there\'s one below that.

Only 32% of all the figures have a score above 7.
Only 10% have a score above 8.
Only about 1% have a score above 9.

If you want to see the better figs, you can always set the low to be 7 or higher, so you get a listing like:

since i\'ve joined the voting has become harsher by at least a point.
stuff that was 8 is now 7.
people need to ease up! there is plenty of room in the 8-9 score.

Wee-ell, you may have a point there....I just checked the gallery, and there seems to be the regular selection of scores, but I have noticed that there are waves, or fluxes of crappy and/or good minis that periodically flow through here....Just like I notice that once in awhile, a bunch of newbs appear (and of course, the two events are completely unrelated....that\'s why I didn\'t post any mediocre/shit minis, right away.....I\'m biding my time *muhahahaha*)

8+ minis take time, a lot of time. Whereas it takes very little time to paint and post a large amount of average minis

You\'ll probably find that a wave of good submissions will follow a games day, as people post the models they entered

Well, I agree that there has been alot of \"crap\" posted lately (and don\'t get me wrong, I have posted stuff when I started that fits my definition of crap too), but I think that saying something all the way up to 6.5 is crap is too harsh. I think anything that deserves under a 5 can be classified thusly, but I see plenty of works around the 6 level I can enjoy.

Maybe its just me, but...

... it seems pretty obvious that there would be more average minis than exceptional ones just by definition. I mean, \"average\" pretty much implies that they are the majority. And if \"exceptional\" minis weren\'t the exception then, well... They\'d be average.

As Temperance suggested, if you\'re offended by \"crap\", set your browser to show only 7\'s and above.

Well, maybe \"crap\" is a wrong word, maybe \"low quality paintjobs\" is better... also a load of bad pictures too

I\'d like to vote on pictures that are fun to watch, not to vote 4 after 5 after 4 :)

Because of that I usually filter for 7+ scores...
