Hey guys, I\'m just wondering is it worth getting the WH40K Basing Kit (slate, brass-etching, resin details)? Anybody bought it before? What is your opinion?

I bought a pack ages ago, and actually it isn\'t too bad at all. Sure, the slate and the gravel you get could obviously be bought elsewhere, but you do get some nice resin bases and a little brass etching strip with some bits and pieces on.

Yeah, go for it!

if you know what your doing then you can get half of the products for free.
Or if you\'re naughty duplicates for free.

or you go to your LGS wait for a kid who comes in with bucket loads of minis because his mommy buys them for him, punch him in the stomach, and make away with the booty..... yarrrr....

I say no. All the things in the kit that you probably want most are the ones that are not given to you in large amounts. Plus you can probably find all of the items in the kit for cheaper and in large amounts from somewhere else. Except the brass etchings. If that is what you want then buy it. But you can always sculpt similar terrain with putty and iconography is something that is in every boxed set you own.

EDIT: I do agree with Dragonsreach though. Support China\'s economy. Your decision.

EDIT Again: Disregard everything I said earlier. I forgot that there was the resin stuff too. I bought one a while back and have yet to use any of it. If you will actually use it then buy it. But buy it from someone that is not selling it for $25. Check ebay.

Edit Again Again: Do not forget that plasticard can also be used to make similar basing pieces to the ones given to you in the etchings. Plus using plasticard will be more unique. One of these days you will come across someone with identical bases to yours and who wants that?

EDIT Again Again Again: I just realized the resin stuff is just platforms with heads and junk on it. That is all stuff you can achieve using bits from your past plastic boxed sets. Do not buy it. Listen to this last edit. I am done now, seriously.

Well ,you know, as with any \"kit\" the convenience comes from having everything in one place neatly prepackaged for you. Problem with this kit is that the market niche is not clear for me. If you paint single mini at display quality - you probably will be doing your bases yourself. If you paint armies then the amount of stuff you get for $25 is not enough.
