Is there an alternative to blu tack?

I used to use this and I don't remember it being such a pain! It's just too damn sticky/messy! Tough to remove! I won't let it near my stuff anymore.
I'd like to use something to say, stick down a foot onto my cork if only one foot is pinned. Also for temporary placement of parts to check how they look and such. any input would be appreciated.

I have success with poster putty. Not sure if its the same but it comes off easy for me. I use it to stick them on card board for priming and on corks for painting. No issues.

Cheapest alternative i know of is silly putty from any $2 store. Otherwise many of the companies that make military armour painting/weathering supplies also make masking putties. Some of the ones I have used come from Mig Ammo, AK Interactive and Wilder, among others. They cost a little more than the generic stuff but unless you put them down over wet paint you are pretty much guaranteed of them not affecting the underlying paint. They don’t have the oily residue that BluTack has either.
