Is white Elmer\'s glue the same as PVA glue?

I\'ve been using the GW brand PVA glue for basing materials, but the tube cap keeps getting glued shut and is too much of a pain to wrestle with. So is that Elmer\'s glue they sell everywhere the same stuff? If not is there other similar PVA glue I can get easily, like at hardware stores?

Yep - it\'s pretty much the same stuff. I use it all the time, watered down about 50/50 with water.

Wipe the top with a bit of scrap tissue to remove the excess.

Most hardware stores will sell variations of PVA as will somewhere like Michael\'s or Hobby stores.
There are two basic types for Hobby Use in the UK, one for general and One (without alcohol) for Schools, both are about the same price.
A few hobby stores in the UK sell a \"Quick Grab\" version which is great for placing Woodland scenics foilage.

Don\'t be fooled into thinking that glues like \"Gorilla Glue\" will do as this is a great glue for wood, but \"foams\" on curing. (Plus needs to cure in the presence of moisture.)

PVA - I thought that was the really toxic, purple stuff for putting PVC pipe together.
Nope, that is PVC Primer.

Don\'t try to make snow with the yellow wood glue though. You get snow that looks \'used\'.

Yep, Elmer\'s is like PVA but it\'s not the same - Elmer\'s is noted for discolouring over time, PVA doesn\'t.

Many brands of PVA glue available in hardware stores, art-supply places or stationers; most any \'white glue\' should be PVA.
