Isabella Von Carstein HELP NEEDED

So I'm working on a mini as a christmas present to my girlfriend and I've done well so far (by my standards) but I'm really apprehensive to start touching her hair!
I'm wanting to go for a kind of chesnut colour and so far have just had a base of Scorched Brown with a wash of Devlan Mud

I'm only really looking for one highlight and then tie in again with devlan Mud so I need help picking the highlight colour (I do have a few browns, old & new GW range)

Mostly I need help figuring out where to highlight! Ive seen some articles on the internet but as the shape & direction of her hair vary greatly from those of the articles I'm really stuck XD Also finecast is a b*tch!

Yeah, those are some big pictures. Take it into a photo program and see if you can scale them down. Or at least crop the sides so we just get the figure.

I'd take several layers of lighter and lighter highlights and treat the hair almost like NMM to give it a nice sheen. I just did something similar on my WIP page (though there it was red hair). For brown hair I've liked using a mid level skin tone for the highlights. For hair this dark if you're only going to do one highlight I'd try 75-25 brown to skin tone or maybe 50-50. Just depends on how much contrast you want. If you can do several layers it could look really good, especially with those rounded shapes that make up her hair do.

Cool looking base by the way. Also I like your color choices a lot more than the box art.

Hello,

Pretty and original color scheme. And the base is worked well. For colouring of hair: maybe mix of Bleached Bone in your Brown, first 25% BB + 75% of Brown and then 50/50 then 75/25 or even last clarification to the pure bleached by limiting the maximum surface for the last highlight.
The simplest technique: light drybrushing.
