It can\'t go on like this...

I know I\'ve said over and over I\'ve yet to try my hand at a rackham mini, but it was all a lie!!! *sob* I have done one, just hidden him in the dark, but here he is, finally in the light for all to see
FirstRackham.jpg

okok, honestly I was just going through some old minis and was a little supprized to see that I had actually painted a Rackham, classic Eric paintjob right there, notice the careful drybrushing?

I had a ton of fun opening that old box and seeing all the old work again, I\'ll take some more photos soon :)

WHEW, now that I have that secret out, I can start on Rackham mini attempt #2

don\'t feel bad!! This mini was done about 16 months ago I think (guessing), after painting for nearly 4 years. Goes to show painting improvement isn\'t always so linear :)

It\'s nice you\'ve come out Eric ;) , you never know, could start a trend or \'Drybrushers Anon\'
I\'ll go first then;
*stands up*
\"My name is Mick, I used to drybrush my Minis, I\'ve been \'clean\' for 2 years now...\"
lol;)

Nope...painting improvement isn\'t linear...especially with those \"demonic pacts\". ;)

And congratulations on trying to clear the skeletons out of your closet.

\"Hi...my name is Ethan...and...umm...does wet flatbrush painting count as drybrushing...I\'m new to this.\"

:D

I haven\'t done a Rackham, yet, myself, but NSA tipped me to a place that sells a lot of them, and I mean to go pick a bunch up in the near future.
I have, however, expanded my horizons, and got myself some Freebooters, some Spyglass, and through ME3, I-Kore.

I also need to pull some funds together to get that griffon diorama from that other thread. Money went and got tight on me. Bleah.

Hi Ethan, welcome to the group. ....flatbrushing is ok, ..I guess, ..it\'s a little more controlled (than DBing) and gives a better finish. So it\'ll be ok for now ;):D

Thanks! If I stay clean, do I get to put little stamps in a personal journal or get a little medal or something like that? :D

..stamps, stamps... yeah, I like the stamps idea :D

....are we nuts or what?
I really should be making a start on some minis, plus I\'ve gotta find a new starter motor for the car today  bloody thing just decided it wasn\'t gonna work any more ...and yes I have beaten it with a large hammer in the normal way....

I guess we\'d better find an old mini the same as Eric just to be fair, to that end off I go then, catch the rest of you nutters later

Now I feel really bad,

That model still looks waaaay better then my current stuff. :(

Hope you can make the one I sent you really shine, Eric. I loved her, and thats why I gave her to you...

If you love something, set it free...

ohhhh, you guys know the rest.

I own lots of Rackham minis, but have only started my first one for ME3. A Morbid puppet; I didn\'t have any of those. :D

I\'d like to join the group as well;

Hello, my name is Scott and I have been known to drybrush on occasion, mostly on landscape pieces and furry animals... lol

Thanks for posting that Eric! It is interesting to see how much you\'ve improved in the last year! I guess that it isn\'t necessarily linear which is good news for the rest of us poor schmucks.

Cheers,
Grumb

Another member..

Hello, my name is Michelle and my actual very first \"minis\" were not tiny people made from pewter, but small plastic horses. I think my herd is still hiding out in the badlands of various packing boxes. Should I bring them out to the daylight as well?

@ Eric- I see this was from your painting in the days before you sold your soul to the Gods of Pewter and they beaned you on the head with the Holy Brush! lol

Well, you have to start somewhere! Luckily, you were smart, unlike me who decided to tackle a Wolfen straight off! Oh, the silliness.. :p

I still dry brush, Ink wash, Stain paint, etc...

sometimes its just the way to go!

So what this whole thread boils done to is this:

If you want to have a great rating on CMON, you don\'t have to be a great painter. You just need to get lucky five times. lol

Just kidding there guys, I know most of yous can paint your A$$es off, I\'m just trying to make myself feel better. Twenty six years later I still suck. lol
