It just keeps getting hard!

I think this title should go in Supervikes \'thing mini painters should not say\' thread.

Anyway; I have some green stuff. Actually it’s the stuff you get from GW. I didn\'t pay for it. It was prize in a tourney. Anyway, it is getting hard. Is there a way I can reverse the effect, or should I just throw it out and buy a new ribbon?

If it\'s mixed and getting hard that\'s what\'s supposed to happen!

Unmixed and taking on a more solid consistency means it is past its best. Often happens if my Green Stuff is overexposed to the air I find. The more you work it once mixed you may find it softens up a bit, but you are better off getting a new batch I\'d say.

Yeah, I find just keep working it, even while Im busy with something else keeps it from going off too fast.

But once its set, thats it had it.

Dont use the GW stuff, its way too expensive anyway.

Good point about not getting GW stuff. Much better to get it in the two seperate parts, so it doesn\'t start to harden where they meet down the centre.

Oh that one drives me wild.

Typical of games workshop screw every penny outta people aye.

Lets put the stuff together, so that when people go to use it, they find they throw about a third of the stuff away before they even get started.

Bastards.

Or, if you have little pots, seperate it the moment you use it, and put them in two pots.

(I have some kind of obssession with small pots and boxes and storage trays)

You know the trick of storing it in the freezer?

Also cut out the middle section of the green stuff where the two colours meet (that bit has already started to cure).

On the can of Magic Sculpt it says if it gets hard to get it warm/hot - 150 degrees F ?

Stick in the freezer. Mine is more then 1 year old and no sign of it getting hard. Freezer works nicely.

Ok. Thanks a lot. I might just get a new ribbon. Its almost seven years old now.

I will try buying the colours seperate.

In all seriousness though seperating the strips works well to combat the curing down the middle, but if it really is that old it may be lost. I\'ve had moderate succest mixing somewhat hard greenstuff under hot water from the tap, but thats most likely because its usually cold in my room.
