As far as Oz beer goes, its ALL lager, the bitter is lager, the ale is lager, the lager is lager. It does come in different colours (like old is almost the colour of Guiness), but the Aussies seem incapable of making anything other than lager.
Its not piss weak though, comes in your normal ~4% range, though oddly (given the Aussies reputation for always having a beer in their hand) I\'ve not come across anything like the venerable Scottish Tennents Special (8%), just lots of differently named but remarkably similar LARGERS.
I don\'t really like larger...
Now if you want real beer, go to Scotland or Ireland. Anyone else tried Orkney dark?
