Hey guys, I\'m looking for some backround info on the various Warmachine armies. The official site is pretty much info lacking. You know, I need some history.


And which army is the most straightforward, which one shows strength in numbers and which is good in spell casting, etc?

I just won an eBay auction and am now supposed to pick a battlegroup and for the life of me, I can\'t decide! Help!

Will fight anyone and don\'t have to worry about being goody two shoes.

Cygnar = nice guys. They basically invented the warjack, have the best technology, and so on.
Menoth = Fanatics. They were part of Cygnar before but religious tensions got them a territory of their own. Officially all their \'jacks are for manufacturing and normal work purposes, not war -> lol
Khador = CCCP, with less gulags. Brute force at its finest. Not really bad guys, but their methods and, uh, culture creates tensions between them and Cygnar.
Cryx = baaad. Followers of Tokuk the Dragon King, IIRC, have wierd necro-magic. Are up to no good.

And which army is the most straightforward,

You don\'t get more straightforward than the Khador \"I got warjacks with 30cm-thick plates of steel for armor and I\'m going to hammer you to pieces\" basic strategy. Although they also have more subtle *gasp* tricks.

That would be Cryx.

and which is good in spell casting, etc?

Spellcasting is at the core of the game, so they all have strong spellcasting. Maybe Cygnar or Menoth have a slight advantage, but I\'d say it\'s more a question of personal preference.

U4-Welcome sums them up pretty well, but you might want to check out the Warmachine forums for a lot more. There\'s usually discussions of tactics, etc., that might help you get a better \"feel\" of what each army is up to. http://www.privateerpress.com/forums

They\'re all pretty cool, though. I\'d say look through some catalogs (online or whatever floats your boat), and pick models that you like the looks of. The thing about this game is that all of the armies are broken, and for some reason that actually balances everything out.

Alright, thanks a lot guys! I think it\'s only a question of Khador and Menoth right now. I\'m now gonna take a look at those forums and then hopefully I can email that seller a decision.

I haven\'t tried the actual game, but the models of the Menoth army are the coolest one if you ask me! I like their fanatic look and mixture of psycho-priests along with nasty warmachines

There\'s a decent amount of fluff in the Warmachine: Prime book, that might be a good purchase

Just received my Protectorate of Menoth Battlegroup!
Great models really, I never would have thought that the Heavy Warjack was that heavy. Probably perfect for bashing someone over the head with. Any volunteers?

everyone says that! although it is traditional to use a juggernaught. but i guess the crudader is a good alternative.
