I remember many of these from when I was little. The early 80s was a terrifying place. Never get in a car, never go near ponds and never, ever even look at a frisbee.

I\'m just a little bit too young to have seen them when I was a nipper I reckon. Thank God for that. I\'d never have gone anywhere near to any kind of water after the darkness of the first one!

That was some harrowing stuff! I remember the frisbee one, but I can\'t imagine kids of today remembering SPLINK as a safety method, what with their iPods and their Wiis and their SuperNintendoStationBoxes...

That water one was really grim: I\'LL BE BACK...

:eek::eek: I remember some of those! It was terrifying.

There were also some horrific ones on the subjects of trains and powerlines in the 80\'s (yep, I\'m a child of the eighties!). I don\'t think I slept for a week!

And to think, they used to show stuff like that in schools to the under-tens...

When I was a teen in the 70\'s they were always warning us kids to not touch BLASTING CAPS!! if we came across them!! Better watch out for those rocket oxygen pumps and puma ankel bones too!!lol

most of my growin up was in the 80\'s and the most I remember are the slews of just say no and beware of strangers seemed like all that was goin on in the eighties was kidnapping perverts and drugs and I\'ll be damned but that freak with the bleach blonde king arthur hair cut doin the seatbelt commercial is pretty much the guy all those adds warned about

I remember being herded into the school assembley hall when I was about 6 or 7 to watch the one about the kids playing on the railway tracks. Nowadays the kids would likely have a close escape and be saved at the last minute by Fireman Sam or whatever. Back then the kid gets trapped in the points and the train runs over his legs :eek:

It\'s easy to see how we\'ve all turned into such well rounded and sane individuals...

SPLINK never caught on for me, but I remember thinking I lived in flats just like those in the advert.

I remember the railway crossing one too, that one scared me the most

The worst thing is that most of them are situations that you would probably never get into in a million years. Take the Farm of Doom one Jesterz mentioned. How many poop related drownings are there in a year? I think they just got a kick out of scarring our impressionable young minds.
