Italians sure know about food

I have cooked some various Italian food these last couple of days and I must say I\'m sold (I knew that already, but it\'s still nice to be reminded)! :D Yesterday I made a tomato soup with beans and boiled wheat and today I made spaghetti with fried mushrooms and garlic boiled in white wine. Even if some dishes only have like five ingredients they taste wonderfully!

So, any Italians out there... Well done!

I\'ve yet to find a culture where I don\'t like food (granted, I\'ve not tried them all)...but yeah, the Italians are WAY ahead of the curve..

Just so long as its not being cooked with the added secret spice - CURRY.

Everything around here has curry in it. Spagetti Sauce, Sloppy Joes, chili, etc.

Curry is great in its place but that place is not lasagna.lol

I would die for austrian food (Semmelknoedel, Apfelstrudl, Marillenknoedel...) but have to admit, italian food come in second! :)
Meanwhile I have learned to cook my own Lasagne and so I dont have to go to the local italian restaurant all the time... lol

I\'ve just started cooking lasagnes again having taken years to buy the right kind of oven dish. There\'s only one thing better than a freshh homebaked lasagne and that\'s a reheated homebaked lasagne

I must admit that Italian is probably my favourite cuisine but, like Vikey, I\'m yet to find a country that doesn\'t have something great to offer menu-wise. I even attended a French/Greek/Cambodian wedding once, now that was a real fusion menu at it\'s best

Fair enough... I like most types of food too (and usually it\'s the one I cooked last that\'s at the top of the list :innocent: ).

In general, regardless of the type of cuisine, I can recommend going the extra mile and find the proper ingredients that, for instance, the Italians themselves use instead of using whatever similar products you might have. Using the authentic ingredients can actually improve the end result considerably and give you a much better experience! Now, if you\'re cooking something exotic it may be tricky to find the proper spices and such, but if you have the posility to find them I can heartily recommend it.

I agree about the benefits of authentic ingredients. A couple of years ago we went to stay with some friends in Italy and had our first experiences of real truffle - white truffle in a pasta sauce and black truffle on pizza. Also the local mushrooms, fresh herbs and olive oil etc all infinitely better that anything we get back home.

Forget not the Swazi cuisine that Grumb displayed for us all. Saddening to say it, but Southern Africa has severe culinary issues.

Italian is way better. Thai is better still. Thai with authentic ingredients is simply unbeatable.

Reheated lagsagne is the dogs bollocks! I make lagsagne roughly once a week for me and Laura, and the tin i make it in is a 3 portion size, so theres always 1 bit left over, guess who gets to eat that the next day! :D

One of my favorites is curried chicken! (Indian I believe)

I would say I eat everything BUT Japanese and French - I prefer both my fish and meat cooked thank you very much.

French eats snails too, don\'t they? :|~

My sister is the world traveler in my family, and she has eaten just about every type of cuisine (except French, its the one country she has no interest in visiting). According to her, her least favorite was English food. She says its a lot like American, all meat and potatoes, but without any flavor. I guess you chaps don\'t like things \'spicey\'. :D

She said she though REAL Chinese food is okay, but its all basically some sort of fish over rice. They don\'t eat ANYTHING like what we have in Chinese restaurants.

So if the Chinese don\'t have Chinese food, then where did it come from? ???
